With the refurbishment behind you, go towards Annabelle Hotel and Tea for Two on first left corner (Can't remember previous cafe name) and the 'fountain' is opposite KFC .

Hi All,
We have eventaully joined cyprus Living after looking at the site for quite a while now. Its great to see the pictures of the harbour area as the last time we were out was in November so things have certainly changed. We are back out the middle of May so it looks like it won't be finished by then.
Are any of the restaurants open on the front now as we usually eat there quite regulary.
Can't wait to come out and get some sun !

Hi Trev and Wendy. Welcome to CyprusLiving. I hope we are not going to get mixed up, with out names. There are no restaurants open on that section at the moment, because access is still restricted to the working force. It is a possibility that some may be open upon your return. But I would not say it will be a certainty.

There is no access to any of the sea front premises (or the promenade area on Posiedonos Avenue) between the harbour car park and the Kentucky Fried Rat - until the job is finished-(ish).

There are hundreds of other restaurants where you might eat - some of them are even open

Once again great pics and to think I was there to see you in action and didn't think to ask for an autograph.

Looks like progress is good at the moment with plently of workers on site. Carriageway width restricted to one vehicle as has been noted but some of the photos seem to show parking bay divisions along one side... taxi rank, parking or bus laybye perhaps? I managed a wee walk on the grouted cobbles after dark just for a nosey and the surface seems more regular and less rugged than in Troodos streets and there were pockets left out at regular intervals along the sea front for guardrail posts perhaps.

Trev I know you said you couldn't meet up due to your appointment in Limassol and my impending flight so it was my plan to go and take some photos while my wife did some last minute gift shopping. I was then contemplating posting them on the web site when I got home to UK or maybe email them to you as I haven't got a clue how to post them.... anyway i needn't have bothered as surprise surprise you showed up anyway and true to form took some great shots from much better vantage points. Still v. nice to meet you in person and as for my Irish luck it'll probably run out in May when I am back again to inspect completed job

Motorway to Larnaka wasn't that busy either except for a bit of a bottleneck far side of Limmassol where last elevated section is still under construction.

I know this is probably a stupid question, after all we are talking about Cyprus, but are there going to be any railings to stop small children falling into the sea? Cyprus is in the EU now, and subject to 'elf and safety rules. :lol:

If you look closely at Trev's pictures esp the ones from high vantage point with the dark stains on paving where sea has washed over you can just see where pockets of blocks have been left out at regular intervals along rear of sea wall. I have walked this section and these look like holes left for railing posts to be set into. Others have posted about the rumours that final the proposal is to have a beach front along here too, which could remove the drop. at the moment thay have imported large rocks to break the force of the sea washing against the new concrete wall and I have to say this looks like finished job to me, apart from possible future railings that is, but as Trev keeps saying we shall have to wait and see.

It will be a shame if there are just railings and occasional benches because in the summer even with continuous sea wall there often isn't enough sitting space.

After reading all the posts again, I think the Tea for Two used to be called Nostros or something like that. Also I never saw any time share touts and we went to the harbour area on several occasions. Maybe someone had already pushed them in the sea before we got there.

Time share touts are out in force in the cark park opposite Rose Corner on the way to the harbour. They are lying in wait by the hoardings and makeshift concrete path that pedestrians on the way to the harbour are forced to use due to the ongong seafront works. They are also pouncing on red number plate cars in the car park just as occupants park and get out and there are a few by the bus stop at the start of the pedestrian walk to the harbour, at least this was the position last week when we were accosted three times on two visits to the harbour area during daylight, no touts at night of course.

Anyway not long now for us as we have a one way ticket for the 29th April, we will certainly come down to the harbour to see if we can spot any photographers on the prowl. Hope to meet some of you down there.

Love the pictures of the fountain.
Had a few good slurps in Pinguino's. It's where we used to meet up with daughter when she had a lunch break.
Club sandwiches very nice and friendly staff.

Do fountains use much water, I suppose there is some evaporation but presumably most of the water gets recycled. The problem is that for whatever reason, so many fountains get abandoned and then they are just an eyesore.

Just found your site about the the work on the promenade in Paphos excellent pictures, it also keeps us from Polis/latchi end up to date as we tend to stay away because of the building work.
Looks as if we'll have to stay away a bit longer.

Seven weeks to go(?) and work is progressing well. Already the block laying has reached MacDonalds.

The road appears to be the narrow strip at the back of the picture, but keeping vehicles to that strip will be fun

I was down there yesterday, but had a job to get past those touts, really getting aggressive now, some tourist may never return, you cant walk along the coast for block layers and time share touts, nightmare..

Well here we are again..... Another exciting episode of find the lunchtime camera man. And who did I meet today... well err, no one actually, but there were a good number of visitors enjoying the sun.
I started off at McDonalds end where they seem to be only just starting with the blocks. and I worked my way along to the Rose Corner end which is not far off finished.
Quite a few pics today, 13 to see out of 36 that I took.

Sorry they are late today, but I uploaded them all and then lost them when I wanted to alter something. It takes over 45 mins to upload them.

If there are any questions, then my slightly fatter and older brother who was "Snapped" last month, will try to answer them. But he is not very good. :lol:

Yep. Some blocks have been laid 10mm higher than others in order to trip up the time-share touts just as they're getting into their stride ...! :smt023

Hi Sue. My guess is that it will still be closed. The works on the promenade area are supposed to be finished sometime in May. (when you come).

The harbour area with Boats , Castle and restaurants will be open as they have all the time.

There is still plenty to see here, the road works cover about 800mts only.

Excellent shots Trev, best yet. Seems that you had fairly free access, or is it just good vantage pints and good zoom lens? Work seems to be progressing apace, but quality may be suffering? Road is now also dissapearing under cobbles too! As others have said it wiil be difficult to limit traffic to designated carriageway and a challenge to keep boy racers off pedestrian areas? As you keep saying we shall see in time.

Having been down for myself this week to see the work commencing, I do hope they are going to put a guard rail around the old wall...I guess they will otherwise we will have to keep a keen eye on the kids..

You could probably to advantage reduce the image size eg with the (free) Picasa 2 software you could export the images to 800 pixel size (which is the size I use on my web site) thereby reducing the file size to around 240kb or less, which should reduce your upload time significantly, without detracting too much from the quality of the pictures.
