Good afternoon All. Tune in on a Friday afternoon for another not so exciting episode, or as in today replay of other weeks.
Well Cobblers were conspicuous by there absence today. I did not see a single cobble laid.
Also, I plucked up all my courage and went to the site cabin to ask to see the plans, and ask what and when and why?.......
No luck I'm afraid the cabin was locked. So, I am no wiser.

I took pictures today from the "Seagull" end of the promenade, and it is mainly large boulders being placed in position as wave breakers.

And Finally down at the other end of the Promenade, they have campleted a section of the New Sea Wall. As you can see it is a fair bit lower than the existing wall. Lets all hope that the boulders do their job and that the new wall is high eough.

Image

A nice sunny day again today. As you can see there are holiday makers in shorts. And others dressed as you would expect locals to be dressed..

Enjoy the Views All.

Best wishes. trev..

Now we have rain and strong winds instead of Sun and minus temps, you just can't win over here

Not much to show for another week, but for hundreds of pallets of paving blocks. I saw pallets numbered over 900 - each containing 600 blocks, in two shades of grey and beige. Chinese craftsmen will soon be arriving to lay the blocks and then we might see the project really take shape.

I make that over half a million cobbles if I understand your numbers correctly, which ought to cover almost 11,000m2 at 50 to the square meter, or enough to pave 720m length of carriageway and footpaths at 15m ave width?! What a load of cobblers... they're gonna need!

Keep up the good work with the photos lads. It's better than watching Eastenders :D

.... in other words... the cobblers look like they are laying the entire surface with them... should be nice, but hope they pattern it and put in some planting areas...

Trev might not have been for his usual walk today, looks a bit dull and cloudy over there, mind you still warm.
Still better than over here in the rain and gales forecast for later on.

This has become my Friday routine now - home from work, boil kettle,
get laptop, log onto site, make tea, get chocolate cake, and see Paphos pictures. Feel great seeing the sunshine and count how many days until I come back. Today - Aghhhhh none yet! On the outer villages of the M25 it is very cold, raining cold rain and generally miserable, please hurry I need my sunshine fix to lift my blues! Thank you.

Thanks are due to Jim for putting the pictures on, I'm still not sure why i had a problem!!....... The chair is the one I sit on each Friday whilst I eat my lunch :) And the sake is one of the "longer yellow water snakes".
As you can see it was making it's way to the tide.

Seriously though, I do wonder why the sea wall seems to be finished about half a metre LOWER than it was before. Other countries are highering their sea defences, because of the expected rise in sea levels due to Global warming???

Best wishes. Trev..

Hi Trev,
I am moving to paphos on Wednesday 5th and thought I would take a stroll down to the harbour on Friday, so if a "strange" women comes and says hello its only me.
You could become the pied piper of the harbour.

Hi Ray, I'm a great disappointment to my husband who is a 'Carmarthen born' Welshman - but I've never seen the point of rugby! So I may have to run away and hide while it's on - and the harbour might be just the place :D

Good Morning All. I am glad you still like the pics. However it seems like I may not be able to take some next week. I will just have to see if I can get through the throngs of people that are likely to be there.

Have a good journey all who are visiting, and I will see you there next week.......12-30 till 1-30.

Progress seems to have really slowed, I thought that the sea wall was more advanced in some of the early photos but I note from Trev's last few visits that there has been little change and much is still to be done with plenty of steel reinforcing still to be encased in concrete. Can't see the cobbling progressing too far until the seawall is completed. :(

Just back from a very relaxing week in sunny Cyprus and must say I only saw one man working all the time we were down at the harbour! Can't see how it will be finished in time.
We did get some inside info from a developer who said that the road will be one way traffic with barriers at each end which will only let buses through with an electronic pass, so no taxis! The harbour cafes seemed to be busier than I remember, don't know if that's because of the rest of the road is closed but it was a lovely atmosphere down there on Saturday in the beautiful sunshine.
Also got some info on the golf course at Geroskipou. Believe it or not it is nearly complete and will be open by September! It is really tucked away out of sight of the road.
My boyfriend is salivating at the thought of another golf course already.

Seriously, i am glad that you enjoyed your holiday and it was good of the sun to shine for you.

Tell your boyfriend he may have to play golf on the bare soil....... No water for the grass!!

Hi Trev , I have been told that they are putting in their own desalination plant costing over £million. I think all the golf courses should be forced to do that.
Brian, if you go out on the airport road past Geroskipou village, there is a small dirt road on the left. If you see the sign for the American Acadamy you have gone too far. If you go up there you will see that all the cart paths are in and they are building the greens. They assure me that it will be open by September but can't see signs of a clubhouse yet.

If the new golf course is built or developed by sensible people they should also put in underground tanks that store much of the water used to water the grass that runs through down into the ground. This can then be recycled for further watering. A few of the golf courses in Dubai have this system as they too have a water shortage.

Just to add a bit more detail to golf course direction in Geroskipou off the airport road, The dirt track road is approx 75metres before the American Academy sign on the left hand side coming from Geroskipou. You can't actually see the course from the road.

Don't want to cause a domestic but Gail is usually a passenger when we come across to Cyprus as she likes to drink more than me. It must be the company she keeps !!!

Cheers
