Normally they plug into the aux lighter Alan, but it is possible to wire them into your fuse box.

Fitted both cameras this morning, a little fiddly but once you do one the other was easy, hid all wires behind headlining and down the door seal's then under dash trim, setting up the E-prance was easy enough and so far both working as they should..this is a shot of the E-Prance in my Jazz.

You could hide the camera higher up behind the mirror if you wished to be more stealthy. The only part of the power wire you can see is that behind the rear view mirror.

New in car dashcam, wife was driving home up the Polis road towards our home today in the heavy rain then bang! a Jeep in front was rammed by a truck from the side, the truck went onto the forecourt of a shop hitting several other cars, it looks like coming to the road the red truck driver thought he could drive straight on, he sent the Jeep into the left hand ditch.

As soon as I find out how to upload the file to my PC I will post the link here, so far it is eluding me...maybe the Jeep driver will see it and use it in evidence?

this is the YouTube link I took from the wife's camera, just at the end of the video you will see a truck coming from the right hand side, it hits the Jeep very hard, then double's back across the Polis Rd to hit two other motors before stopping, no injuries, but for just another 50 meters it could have been the wife..

Imagine having one of those 500 litre gas tanks outside your back door and the damage it could do if something went wrong.

Not sure what going on Brian, this works for me..maybe I need to make some UTube adjustments? I have done nothing different to the usual uploads..

Part 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcD4fXc ... e=youtu.be

http://youtu.be/xcD4fXcKZqE

part 2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pt1wMjV ... e=youtu.be

Only thing I can think of is it is HD recording and it has taken over an hour to upload, as I could not compress the file. maybe come back later and try again.

There is a part 2 but the file is corrupted I think, just shows that truck going on towards the shop on the right hand side hitting other motors, the man was either drunk, driving far too fast or on his mobile, or all three, just happy the wife was behind all this happening, just shows the value to these cheap devices, well worth having as you never know.

The Jeep driver was OK fortunately, as you can see him climbing from his motor.

I hope I never have to post another near miss to my family..

I've seen exactly the same type of accident at that junction but we were coming down the hill and the guy came out just like that and hit 2 4X4s, I use that junction a lot as it is a cut through from ISOP and don't know why drivers fail to stop there.

Trev.

We had a 1000ltr tank at our last house , but I am not saying that is why we moved . ;) It was just too cold living there and costing a fortune to try and keep warm .

On the gas tank issue, what else can you use? LPG or nowt, it should be safe even close to your home, just check your connections occasionally or ask the refill tanker chap to take a look, I have had a 500Ltr LPG tank for fifteen years, I feel they are safer than small tanks that we carry home in our vehicles, always thought that dangerous although I still use them for our gas BBQ..

The bottom of the screen where the time displays seems to slide about right to left, sometimes displays more than others.... it left me with a bit of motion sickness while watching it.

I quite fancied the idea of one of these to be able to record journeys for my blog as opposed to using it for accident spotting so now I'm not too sure if one will be of any use to me.

Great ending though!

Not sure it was a great ending myself, it really shocked Lesley my wife, for 50 meters or so it could have been her and she does not have a large car, why the camera is moving about is not the camera but the upload to YouTube, my original copy is rock solid, so it has to be that, I am not about to reload it to YouTube as that took an hour!! I can now see the value in having a dash cam and we use both our small cars are covered this way, also thinking or rear facing cam's too..maybe next.

YouTube usually stops all the jumping around either during or after the upload, it generally sends a warning and a "would you like to fix it" message. But yes, it takes freakin' ages to upload there which is a real pain.... So, I reckon the dashcam is off my list! I will stick to photographs.

(you wont say that if god forbid you are involved in a collision, one could save you a lot of money, especially now your in the UK)

Glad to hear your missus is okay, although she must have been shaken up.

I have a video compression tool on one of my PC's this compresses any video into a small file that will upload at half the time, unfortunately I loaded it to YouTube on the PC that did not have this facility, next time I will, so do not be put off my the length of time uploads take, just download this, it is free..that camera could save you a lot of money!

I will, but AS I said the copy from the dash-camera is rock steady apart from road surface, we all know what that is like in local towns, I think they could save you many problems if you are unfortunate to have a road accident.

Me a lot longer, but that video I posted was only this week, they make a lot of sense even if you are one of those accidents never happen to, for £40 they have to make sense, I managed for 55 years without a mobile, I bet you have one as I do...the world moved on!!!

I just purchased a dash cam today from the big car accesory shop in russian street. It is tiny in size and gives excellent picture quality. Model no;GS8000L After much haggleing and lots of smiles I bought it for €45 instead of €60.00

2.7"TFT LCD, 4x digital zoom,HDMI output, motion detection, seamless loop, built in microphone/speaker,supports high capacity TF card,140 degree High resolution A+Vide Angle lens. Many more features and programmes.

So you can get them here. :D

Took my dash cam back to the shop today and without asking got a full refund. WHY? The internal battery would not charge and the quick release button for the camera broke off. :-w

How about a pair of sunglasses as an alternative ?

Good idea but I felt sea sick..I think dash cams should be compulsory, they are in Russia I believe, and they really need them..also no use at all if you wear prescription glasses?

Utube has hundreds of films from Dash Cams like these..

So I bought myself a pair of the sun glasses camera , only £20 .

Here is a test vid , I have joined 2 bits , start of the journey then jumps to paphos front , the day the cruise ship was in , and kept it short ......other people s car journeys are not fun .

You only get 1 hour record time on the inbuilt battery .

My reason for trying one is a camera permantley stuck in front of your mirror could be attractive to thieves .

What do people think of the result ? Obviously I will have to start putting the sun visor up .

They work well, a bit of movement but you would expect that, those wearing prescription glasses may have a problem though.?

Have to inform members both my EPrance failed, mostly due to plastic parts, the two replacements seem better made and maybe more durable..time will tell.
