I've just discovered that I can in fact view the photos on my home computer, just not on my work one - doh!

Thanks for the tips though!

Hi All. I am back from my picture taking escapade today. You will notice a few things from the pics. There is still a great deal of work still to be done at the "Seagull" end. There are a number of vehicles in the pedestrian area. Of course there are many contractors vehicles. And also a few from the stalls that are being set up for the fair starting this weekend, I think. But...... there are also some "red plate" cars as well.

You can also see the new kerb with a gap and a bollard at the Papantonios junction.

The new kiosk is now open for business, but it could do with some more customers in the general area.. Maybe the fair during the next few days will help everybody by pulling in more people.

Here are today's Pics

I also believe that the lights are working now. So if you are able to, have a stroll in an evening and look round the shops. Many are now open till around 10-00 pm.

Best wishes. Trev..

Me & my family are traveling back to Paphos on the 29th this month, will the construction work be near finished by then?

Thanks in advance,

Hi Jade. The answer really is .... who can tell. But the area is mainly open now. Many of the restaurants / cafes were champing at the bit ad opened as soon as the area was opened to pedestrians. But others seem no where near ready even now. In fact one or two seem as though they may NOT be reopening.

However by the end of this month there is the possibility that the rebuilt cafe / changing area near to the "Seagull" end will be open. But there will still be a lot of work going on in front of the Porto Paphos Hotel. I am not sure what is being constructed there but is seems a long way from being finished.

At the other end of the promenade the "Rose Corner Building" seems to be progressing only very slowly. There are some of the front extensions nearly finished but this is an ongoing project that may take a number of weeks. The new kiosk that was rebuilt a little nearer the harbour is now open.

So to sum it up there will be plenty for you to see and the pedestrian area is open.

Best wishes. Trev..

Now then Trev, don't vacillate - the answer is NO :). It will not be finished. In fact the works are part of a rolling program that will last until 2010. Next year will see work start on the next section, from the Seagull to the Alexander The Great. The work will also encompass the coastal path from the Airport to St Georges (of which several sections are well on the way to completion) and a bit later the Marina.

Good afternoon again all.
Well it was last year when this thread was started by Gary "Disco Pants". So it has run for almost six months. A lot has changed from the early pictures, to the present day ones. However I have become increasingly aware that the pictures now are little different week to week.
It is with this in mind that I have decided that this will be the last of my REGULAR pics of the new Paphos promenade.
Jim has said that the thread will be preserved in some way or other, so that we can all look back to see what has happened.

It is still probable that I will post an odd pic somewhere if I see something that is worthy of a mention.

So.....to today's promenade on the prom:
I have grouped some pictures of places that are far from finished, and then some of the areas that are finished and open. Since last week the area in front of the Pizza Express has been cleared a bit and access is now a lot better for the shops in that area. I fact I had a chat to "Memory man" today who has a gift shop in that little square.

And to finish the pics is a nice one of the stalls with the harbour in the background, and one of a moored yacht in the bay.

Enjoy these last pictures, and I am sure we will meet again on the Forum before too long.

Hi Trev

Would like to second Gary's post.

I am sure I speak for many here in UK who look forward to your weekly post to give us a regular 'fix' of Paphos until we can get there next and also to cheer us up when the weather isn't what it should be!

Thanks for all your hard work over the weeks.

Hi Trev
have looked forward to your post each week, there has always been something new to sea, this week, it is the first time I have seen tables on the harbour side of the newly pedestrianised street, as in your penultimate picture.

Thanks for all your work

Trev like many here I think we can call you a friend. Always polite with a good sense of humour and much more. I can never remember any angry word from you but sadly I may never get the opportunity to meet you

Like most of us, NO ALL of us we will miss your Friday postings but whatever your reasons for coming to this decision you sure as hell left on a high note with 66000+ postings on this topic. A record I would think

I know Gary and many others have contributed so much but it is “Trevâ€￾ that will be remembered

I had no doubts that Jim would recognise your efforts so we can look back over time at your dedicated work you put in for us to enjoy

Kindest Regards

You have been fantastic Trev - really enjoyed your weekly galleries - take a break - then maybe the proposed marina will tickle your fancy?

Thanks for your efforts its has been a great series to follow.

I too would like to thank Trev for his sterling work he has done. For those that can't be in Cyprus as much as we would like  , it has been a fantastic way of seeing the changing face of Paphos front. I was lucky enough to be over there middle to late May and saw the work for myself. I never expected the work to be finished in time, but thankfully things have improved and are getting better.

Well done Trev, your a legend :D

Hi Trev,Although we have been in Peyia since early April we still look forward to your posts.

Your pictures have captured the re-generation of the area perfectly. If the Marina is not built for few years, I hope that you find another project to keep us enthralled with.

We love Cyprus that much that we are in the process of arranging to come back next year for the whole year, and who knows maybe longer. (my choice, but I have to convince the other half!!!)

Trev for M.B.E at least - let's have your votes.

Looking round the redevelopment yesterday I spotted that fixed barriers had been erected at all the access points except one to keep out traffic. It was mostly working apart from the odd pratt on a scooter. Let's hope that this is the way forwards :)

Hi Trevor,

This is just to say thank you for all the great pics over the past few months. We haven't been to Paphos for about 5 years, but hope to return before too long - the harbour works seem to have made a great improvement to the sea front.

Thanks again for my Cyprus fix.
