How long can I expect my irrigation pipework to last? Noticed a couple of pin hole leaks in the main run remote from any joints or watering points?

If it is the 20mm pipe exposed to sun, you should use the type which has a blue stripe.

Why?
That is the high pressure tube, meant for mains use.
Same material just thicker walls.
Irrigation systems are low pressure so only require thin walled tube.
It is the devils own job to punch holes in the thick walled tube. You certainly wouldn't want to do many!

I know this is the cheap end, but I use garden hose. Either under stone or clipped to a fence or wall using armoured cable clips. As stated it is low pressure and has worked fine for 3 years so far. If it does fail it will not cost a great deal to replace.
