Who knows the man at the Duckpond.......

Postby Ageing Rocker » 04 Nov 2011 14:59

Have read on here before about somebody at the Duckpond who can bring over from the UK packages too large to post. Can't seem to track down any reference to him now and would be obliged if anybody who knows him can give me details, either on here or by pm.

Many thanks in advance.

He has a container shipped over here every month (?) and will bring packages/boxes, weight doesn't seem to be a problem. He is bringing over a boxed item weighing about 28kg I have ordered from a supplier and delevered to his depot. If I used their own delivery service it would have cost an arm & a leg, but I expect to pay him maybe €40 or €50. Takes about 2 weeks to get here and it can then be picked up from the Duckpond, or he may delivery but I'm not sure about that. Hope this time I have been helpful Maggie :?:

We have used his service a few times -- never had any problem --his depo is in Hemel Hempsted and if you have free UK delivery to him its a hell of a lot cheaper. Marj

We've used him to ship bulky items, a metal shed for a workshop, the shelving units for it, a multi function ladder, desktop computer and piano keyboard. All items have arrived in perfect condition and his shipping costs are great as they are based on dimensions not weight. Got some more goodies on the way out soon.

Well I bought two loft ladders today from a brilliant firm in the UK. They are the 11tread concertina type that take up no room in the false roof.
I have had them sent free of charge, to a warehouse in the UK for onward shipping by the 'man at the duckpond'

PS. Two PM's are still waiting for people who asked for details. The messages are awaiting collection / opening.

I'm not sure who should get the commission or discount, you for passing on all the information or me for starting this thread in the first place. :?: (Or maybe both of us :)) :)) :)) )

Well I assume it must be you that got the discount.

But I had a chat to Lee and I am a bit more informed now. I suppose like anything else if people feel it is not worthwhile then they will buy here.

As an example.... I am getting a loft ladder from the UK for £149. I can buy one here for €247. So the difference is about €75. It is not costing that to send it from the UK. I am getting 2 of these, but if I was in a hurry for them I would have bought them here.

Cheers. Trev..

My goods are still in transit so I don't yet know how much he will charge me, but I will remind him who started all this potential business. \:D/

Hi Lee, I am glad that you have found the thread. Long may your business continue to prosper.

I didn't realise you were already a member. People can PM you direct now if they need to. But if they need the details from me then it is no problem.

Although I haven't used Lee yet, not through choice, just not getting the time to shop whilst in UK for exactly what I was looking for, but got a quote from Lee and one from somewhere else and I tell you Lee's quote was over 300 euro cheaper - so I know I will be using him a lot in the future. 8)
