No but I was waiting for someone to start a thread on it! I understand there were teething problems but let's hope they get ironed out and everything runs smoothly for them.

I presume it's named after but not actually part of THE Harry Ramsdens.

Still have my certificate from their original shop in Guisley for managing to finish their monster fish and chips meal.

Just seen their Menu advertised in the UKCA Magazine - it seems as though Cod and Chips and mushy peas is only €4.95, many other things for €4.95 too - will be interesting to see what everyone thinks who has tried it.

I went here last night, most of the things on the menu are €4.95 me and my other half ordered cod for €4.95 this comes with chips and a choice of mushy peas curry sauce or something else but I declined just having the cod and chips, my OH had the curry sauce on the side, he had a coke and i had a tea. We were asked if we wanted bread and butter but both declined.

The waitress was very polite and so were everyone else in there, i think it was the owner who seated us when we went in.

When the food arrived after a short wait there was a reasonable sized portion on the plate, looked really nice fresh and not greasy.

The chips tasted really good and so did the fish, the only down side was the two pieces of fish that we had happened to have some bones in them, we asked the man who i think was the owner when he came to see if everything was ok if the fish was filleted and he said that it was but he always says to people that there may be a few bones and he was very appologetic.

We will go back again as it was very nice apart from the bones and the total bill was €11.95
Smile, it makes people wonder what you have been doing :)

We ate there last Saturday afternoon and really enjoyed what was presented to us (Cod & Chips twice, plus portions of curry sauce and mushy peas). But don't park outside the Kiosk opposite unless you wish to partake in a "friendly X( " discussion with the kiosk owner.

We stopped off in there last night and they were fully booked, however we were lucky because as they had just had a cancellation.

We opted for the cod & chips with mushy peas and the steak and kidney pie, chips and baked beans. I had the pie on this occasion as I am a little fussy with batter... however, having tried the battered cod I will definitely be having that next time as it was fantastic.

The cost for the above with two large carslbergs and two diet cokes was a little over EUR13.00

This will certainly be saving us a drive to Mandria or Coral Bay on the odd occasion that we fancy fish n chips.

I did feel a little for for them at one stage when a couple turned up who hadn't booked. Firstly they sat at a reserved table before realising that they couldn't sit there. So they moved and at the same time another party left their table just behind us so they asked if they could have it "yes" was the owners reply "and if you could wait a couple of minutes we will clear it for you" to which the woman snapped back telling him not to be so rude before storming out. Even continuing her rant as she drove down the road.

So, if the "lovely couple" read this .... chill out in the future unless you would prefer to sit at a dirty table =))

Sounds as if it's very good value. Decided to wait a while before trying ...... Get the teething problems out of the way but I can wait no longer!
As for the rude couple ....... I should think they were well rid of customers like that! I think it's only polite to wait to be seated and I'd certainly prefer a cleared table!

Tried Ramsdens a couple of weeks back. Quality good and good value. The one criticism I would make is there is no option for a larger portion.
I saw another customer order double and then fail trying to keep it all on the smallish plate.
If you are a pig like me, you would relish the opportunity of a large portion on a large portion plate.
The vinegar's the proper brown stuff as well. None of yer foreign muck! :))

Got a takeaway from here last night and it was delicious! Crispy fish and beautiful chips, amazing mushy peas...need I go on? Admittedly I only live minutes away so not enough time for it to go soggy but even so it was crispy to the last mouthful!
I found the portion size to be perfect, just enough with nothing left over, all too often you are overwhelmed with piles of anaemic limp chips that end up in the bin along with lumps of soggy batter.

If you call that number you will get hold of Willy the Manager, you may get an answer phone but Willy will call you back if you leave your number.

But as far as I am aware they are not doing home deliveries. They are very busy in the restaurant!! so why would they?

I've tried it eating-in at Ramsdens and loved it (and I am very fussy where food is concerned) but I think I would hate it if it was take-away or delivery even a very short distance. Nothing quite like eating very good freshly cooked fish and chips in a comfortable restaurant, especially at €4.95 including mushy peas. 8)

They do take aways..we have always travelled to mandria for fish and chips but now wouldnt entertain it.Obviously its a smaller portion at Ramsdens but its half the price so easily sorted for the big eater...just order a double portion.

take away was fab

We went to Ramsdens last week - really impressed - the food is excellent - we both had the fish and chips - large cod in a very light crisp batter - home made chips to die for - mushy peas on the side - all for €4.95 each - drinks prices are also very reasonable. The restaurant was quite busy but had a nice ambience about it, they do offer take away as well which I believe is the same price as sitting in. It's not just fish and chips though they do have other things on the menu, pies, pasties, burgers etc.

We will definitely be going back - excellent value for money and better value in our opinion than Coral Bay or for that matter the one in Mandria (unless you happen to be out that way of course).

Wishing the owners every success.

Obviously this will happen if you have a distance to travel, you could have eaten there if you wished, and mine were indeed crispy as I expected, but I only had five minutes drive, great value and delicious I highly recommend Ramsdens, and before someone asks they do not advertise with us....Jim
