In my opinion the ones from Upper Crust the English Bakery are hard to beat!

They are currently relocating from Kissonerga to the premises opposite the St George Hotel that was Sea Jays bar and hope to reopen in February! They will also have a larger terrace cafe area.

Best to make your own. Easy:

1 pack Lidl puff pastry
1 packs 'Snack' English pork sausages (remove skins)

You can even be clever and 'fringe' the edges of the pastry and plait the whole length - brush with beaten egg - voila!
Experience is something you dont get until just after you need it!

I agree with you footdoctor home made is usually always best, but depending on an individual's circumstances is not always the easiest and/or quickest option!

Pickles is right, the English bakery, can't beat them and they do other nice things too. Custard tarts very good. :P

Come on Anais let's be honest - everything from the Upper Crust is very nice. Even if I'm just popping in to see Annie & Dave without buying (which is a feat in itself!) I feel I've inhaled at least 150 calories!

Agreed Kolios Butchers have good pastries and that includes pork and ham pies, decent sausage rolls, again though easy to make for yourself.

Any home made or bought puff pastry will be fine..

Just cooked Birds Eye frozen sausage rolls and two out of the four disappeared whilst still piping hot, so MOH appears to be more than happy with these!

Hmm, I went into KOLIOS Butchery this morning and it was to check if I had won a prize in there free raffle-no such luck. OK so I bought some Cambozola cheese. Then she say's try some sausage roll, OK I had a sample-DELICIOUS so I bought one for my snack/lunch. The best one I have had since arriving in Cyprus. :D

I have many times promoted Kolios sausage rolls as being among the best around. Not sure if my friend Graham (KG) has tried them yet as I keep telling him how good they are...and I know him to be a discerning individual =))

That said, we found the ones we bought from Kolios for Christmas were not as bountiful in terms of filling as they have been in the past; could be just a Friday afternoon batch we bought

Love it when something simple like a sausage roll becomes such a popular subject so perhaps another recipe for affectionados to try. I assume you have to swear a little to get the best result =))

No I don't sorry just 'sometime in February', but may even be March! I know they moved all the equipment when they closed the old place and it's piled up in there now and the outside was being painted. If I can find Annie's phone number I'll her a bell.

Best sausage rolls, have you tried Aunt Debbies home made sausage rolls and cornish pasties, she's at Yiamis bar on the Tomb of the Kings every friday afternoon from 2 till 5. Was recommended to me and I pop in every week now to get a selection. Very yummy and reasonably priced, just like mum use to make.

Pies and pasties and sausage rolls

Postby peteinpaphos » 28 Feb 2014 12:21

If you like a good old fashioned, home made pastry then pop down to Yiamis Bar on TOK opposite O'Neil s. Aunt Debs pies, pasties and sausage rolls are really tasty and well priced. Between 2pm and 5pm
