The pool is suffering from High Alkalinity <120, actually around 200!, but the PH is around 7.2
I've read that to lower the Alk add dry Acid, but that also increases the Acid PH..
So my question is how to lower the Alk without making the pool PH too Acidic?...

simple; add Sodium carbonate which raises PH but NOT alkalinity, then add dry or liquid acid, which will lower both alkalinity AND PH!
