There have been various posts about the procedures for replacing a UK driving licence with a Cypriot DL at 70. I thought I'd share my experience today.
I saw Dr Nicos at the Paphos General who directed me to the Opthalmology Department where I was advised to obtain a set of labels from Reception. Having done so I was given a quick eye test and a certificate to take with Form TOM153B (available on the internet) to the second floor admin. office. There, the Form TOM153B was duly certified and passed to me, the eye test results being retained by the hospital.
Armed with all the necessary documents (see CyprusDriving.net) I went to the Road Transport Office off Polis Road. Unfortunately they advised me that the Cyprus Driving Licence can only be issued on the birthday or possibly the day before. They were unable to make any exception despite the fact that I will be out of the country at this time, driving a hire car with no valid driving licence. Had they issued a new one today it would have expired in two weeks time.
This is not a moan, just information to pass on........
