Motorists are no longer forced to log into the DVLA's View Driver Record service with their national insurance number, postcode and driver licence number. While this option still exists, motorists can now access their driver record using their GOV.UK Verify login details, which can also be used to submit passport applications and tax returns.

However, members should advise their customers that the DVLA's View Driving Licence (VDL) and Share Driving Licence (SDL) services will be unavailable at the following dates and times:
• Friday 23 October 21.00 to 07.00 Sunday 25 October
• Friday 30 October 21.00 to 07.00 Monday 2 November
• Friday 13 November 21.00 to 07.00 Monday 16 November

During this period, drivers will not be able to create codes to verify their licence details. However, members will still be able to use the Check Driving Licence service to verify any check codes generated prior to the disruption period.

DVLA’s Premium Line and Contact Centre will continue to operate as normal during their standard opening hours (Mon-Fri 0800-1900, Sat 0800-1400) to provide drivers, companies and employers with the normal checking and confirmation service.
