Chinese Whispers - Ocean Basket to open in Coral Bay next Thursday (30th).
Seems to me there's still an awful lot of work left to be done before then. But .........

Don't know what the exact opening date is but I think it must be fairly close now. When I drove past late yesterday afternoon, looked like they already had staff in for training as there were various people stood outside in uniforms, aprons etc.

I'm really looking forward to Ocean Basket opening close to home. I guess Santa Marina round the corner is probably less excited about it though.

It's an enormous place so they certainly need to do well to fill it - must hold a couple of hundred I would think

We went there for lunch today.

They have only opened what was the top half and almost every table was full with both Cypriots and tourists. I am not too sure about the other half but it looks like it is work in progress.

The service was good, nice and attentive without being intrusive. The food was very nice and plentiful as expected from a franchise such as this.

I agree Shelagh it was a great cafe originally then a terrible restaurant - like a flipping barn with no atmosphere, then failed as a function suite and now fingers crossed it will succeed, we will go this week I'm sure!

We went two weeks ago, it was packed and we didn't get in either but were advised to book in future. Last week we rang to book and were told they no longer accept bookings, we would just have to come along.
We went on Saturday night, signs up saying 'no bookings, first come, first served' It was busy but we got a table and had an excellent meal, sushi for me and a fish platter for my OH. Only surprise was that we were told that the sushi order would be at least half an hour as so many people had ordered it. Not a problem, a shared starter and a couple of drinks took care of that!
