Type 1 Diabetes - Treatment in the Paphos Area

Postby galexinda » 12 Mar 2015 09:10

Just read elsewhere about someone who has Type 1 Diabetes and wants to come to live in the Paphos area. Perhaps there is someone on this forum who can help?

The person is retired and therefore eligible for state health care - but what does that offer?

Details have already been given about the diabetes group that meets once a month at St Paul's Pillar but apparently there is a place near to Carrefour that supplies items such as insulin pumps, meters etc

Hello I have type 2 and see my normal GP in the General, he is also the new "specialist in diabetes" but there is also a full on doctor who deals with this problem, I do know friends who get all there needs at the general including insulin, and the means to inject with, do not worry the General hospital is geared up for this complaint..pop in the reception and just ask.

Correction Jim - Type 1 diabetes is not a 'complaint', it's a 'condition'.

Hi Jim,

It always makes me annoyed when the likes of tabloid newspapers refer to Type 1 diabetes as 'an illness', 'a complaint', 'disease' and the like! It is in fact a 'Chronic condition'.

I too am a Type1 since I was a youth and have had the chronic condition for 55 years and counting :)
