Hi everyone

as of tomorrow I will be 65, my question is if I live full time in Cyprus full time will I be better off tax wise or should I be based mainly in U.K.

thanks

Mick the LAW is that if you live in Cyprus more than 183 days a year you Have to pay tax here on your worldly income.

But it is a better deal here. You have a personal allowance of €19,500

It's not just the tax free allowance, it's also the much lower property tax (UK Council Tax), annual road tax. Whilst food and clothing are slightly more expensive than in the UK, the current foreign exchange rate makes this a minor downside.

Would you still have to pay tax to the UK government on private pension income, though??

If you are a tax resident in Cyprus then any private UK pension is taxed here.
