Frozen squid

Postby auntiemo » 10 Jun 2012 09:15

I bought two huge bags of frozen squid (1+1 offer!). It is cut into very large thick rings. I tried sauteing some in garlic butter - not very nice. I tried deep frying some in oil - not very nice. Anyone got any ideas? Might be better in something like a seafood pie or soup, but there is rather a lot of it.

I only ever defrost it dust in flour and fry, it's really just all you can do with frozen squid, it's the fresh stuff you can do other things with!

Thanks Pickles. Both times I cooked it from frozen so maybe that's where I went wrong.

Make some batter but use tempura flour it's much lighter, defrost squid and cut into rings, dip squid in batter and deep fry at a high temperature ,add a squeeze of lemon juice .
