Hi All,

Just a quick question for the forum, we are currently viewing Paphos properties, with a view to making a purchase, and moving out full time this year. One of the properties that has caught our attention has a pool described as currently out of use, but has had a new liner fitted. the pool is currently empty, and has been so for at least all of this summer, so my question is:

Is this prolonged exposure to the summer sun likely to have harmed the liner, and how east would it be to bring a pool such as this back to a useable condition, a job for a specialist?

There are a number of pool companies in Pafos. I suggest getting 1 or 2 around and take it from there.

Just a guess really, but just coz the liner is new doesn't mean that the rest of the stuff works ok!

Maybe if you really like the property, then you could stipulate that you will only complete once the pool is fully operational, subject to an 'expert's' opinion.

It's like buying a house that's just been redecorated - you don't know the condition of the walls behind the wallpaper!

If its not been used this summer the pool pump may or may not be a problem also. I would suggest you tell the vendor that you are very interested but you are concerned and ask them to fill it and get it up and running.

Why not just make an offer about 25k less than the asking price. If accepted that should give you a good contingency for any pool repairs.

Good idea, budget for worst case scenario - new pool

Pools are intended to be kept full of water. If a pool is left empty you have unequal forces and pressures playing on the walls of the pool resulting in possible damage through stress factors.

Thanks very much, some great answers here, bringing some points that I had not even considered, it is a very nice property, but would have to come down a lot to allow room to tackle potential problems! on with the search

Hi I would not recommend any liner swimming pool to be left empty at any time. Its not the recommend thing for any body to do. Would get a Survey done on it by a good Company who are qualified to do so. Ship Shape are SPATA Members. It will save you in the long run, but would suggest it will need a new liner.
