Just out of interest for people who may not know, you have to purchase prepayment stickers from the window next to the admissions window by the check in. They are available in 50 cents, €1 and €2.
You need these for Blood Tests and Prescriptions.

You pay the €3 or €6 in cash to the girls where you sign in to see the doctor.

Also all pensioners whether UK or Cypriot have to pay!!

Usually the blood test is separate visit, but it seems like you will now need to allow even extra time to queue for the stamps for a blood test. And again after you have seen the doctor you will need to get stamps before the Pharmacy...

Not really Trev, I just bought €20 worth so have some when I need them.

The sign for the new charges was up on the wall at registration last week, never mentioned how you would pay then, only the fee to see the GP and the registration charge, this is as posted by Pops.

I agree how do they or you know what treatment and drugs you need before you see the GP? so how can anyone guess how much these will be, all I can see happening is more chaotic registration area, as if any of us need this!

Blood test, I now pay at private clinics no waiting results next day I had a PSA test and a HBA1C Diabetic test the total cost was €80, no queues or hassles.

NO not at all Jim, as I said you just go to the window and purchase a certain amount of prepayment stickers so you have them when you need them. They do not expire and saves a lot of problems when you do actually need them.

Pops I can see lots of problems, although I do not like having to pay twice as no doubt they will still bill the NHS for costs again!

So we have to pay for something we may not use? it will be murder down there next time I go, and I am not looking forward to that cattle market again, dread going down there now, only last week my the GP who I usually like to get sent me off to see the in house dermatologist at the general of course, duly waited for over an hour to see him/her then the nurse who saw three of us sitting there an hour before said he will not be in to day, this treatment is very poor no matter what nationality you are.

I will go to pay to see one.

That is your choice Jim. Hopefully eventually the UK will sort out the problem but cannot see it in the near future!! As for buying something you may not use is rubbish because at some point you will need them. I am not suggesting that you buy loads even just €10 worth wouldn't break the bank.

Rubbish? you say, how on earth are you are supposed to know what prescriptions you may or may not need to have before you see your GP? to buy stickers before you see a GP is crackers, more of our cash goes out of our pockets, and Pops this is not rubbish mate.

Its not the cost of having to put into the Cypriots coffers, far from it, I am just not happy this system will ever work, I have been here long enough to know they are dumb down there at times, they have lost two of my blood test results this year alone, and why I now pay!..

As I said your choice. I have always been very satisfied with Paphos General and will contimue to use it. If you see the article in the Cyprus Mail today the Health Minister has said that the number of patients at the General hospitals has more than halved today!!!! So possibly the cattle market days could be over!! We will see!

Hi Pops - thanks for this - we are due for blood tests soon so I think I will pop in before and pre pay. Do you know how much blood and urine tests are? Also how much per prescription?

It is 50 cents per tick on your blood test form and €2 per prescription item with a ceiling of €10 for both. Not sure about Urine tests as they haven't been mentioned, but could be the same as Blood!

It also seems to make sense to pre purchase these stickers to me as I think it will save time. Many of us have regular 2 monthly prescriptions that rarely change much and now we know that Blood tests are 50 cents a tick you could purchase them after seeing the Doctor .

I was at the hospital this morning and did notice that it seemed rather quiet. The charges for registration appeared to be €3 for a GP or €6 for a specialist. This was for all card A holders which is the one that most retirees hold. I had a look at the newly opened windows round the side and wondered what the sheets of stickers were for. The queue was 2 people deep! I think it will just be a case of getting used to a new system before another one is introduced.

It appears all is not even , over on the east side one member paid 50c per prescription item.

Every one has to pay. I think it is a good plan really. Many people were going to A & E for minor complaints instead of going to a GP. I think it is now €12.00 to go to A & E
