Silk's Bistro & Wine Bar

Went to Silk's ( ex Hugos ) last night. I must say the food was really good and a welcome change from the norm. They have a Tapas menu offering about 14 different dishes. We decided on 4 dishes - Spanish meatballs in tomato sauce, Honey spiced chilli & garlic prawns, Chicken & Ham croquets and Tortilla. The price of the dishes range from 3.50 to 6.90 euros, our 4 dishes came to about 19 euros and was more that plenty to eat! For me another major plus was the choice of wines, Willie, the owner obviously knows a bit about wine and you can choose from local village wine to a selection of better quality wines and good value bin-ends. We had a great evening and will certainly go again, next time will try the Thai fish cakes & Pork satay.A nice touch was being given a 15% discount voucher off the next meal when we left (valid to the end of May). Telephone number in our index.

Go up the hill at the St George traffic lights and it's on the left just before the Railway pub.

Four of us went here last night and as the OP says a pleasant change. The food was lovely and tasty and the wine from a local winery was superb. We really enjoyed it and will definitely be going again.
