I have connection for Cyta in the house and their supplied Thomson router but I want to set up a Bellkin router I brought from the UK in another room as the signal is weak. The wireless connection on the Belkin is excellent but it will not connect to the Internet. Does anyone know the IP addressess and other settings that I need to input into the Belkin to make it connect?
Come to that is it possible or is it Cyta blocking a device that they have not supplied?
if so does anyone know where I can obtain a second Thomson router that WILL work.
Or does anyone know of a computer shop that can set it up for me if I take it to them?

You can only have one ADSL modem connected to the line, but you can connect another wireless router to the LAN ports of the Thompson. If you need the connection in another room, try a pair of "homeplugs", one connected to a lan port by the modem, and another connected to the WAN port of the belkin.

If the belkin is a ADSL type, (not ethernet), I am afraid I do not know the settings - it used to be 8/35 but it may have changed now.

Hopefully, someone who has connected their own modem will be along to help.

Assuming you have a cat 5 cable between the units.

Set the Belkin to use DHCP from the Thompson, and also set the Belkin to use DHCP pass through

The Thomson router uses a 192.168.10.254 address.

Easy to do difficult to describe.
