Some time ago people discussed swapping the Cyta SpeedTouch modem for their own, cloning the mac address.

Did anyone do this and how successful were they, and as it proved beneficial?

What models would they recommend.

Yes u can do it.
but if u just want better wifi get a decent wireless router and plug it into the cyta box using ethernet cable.
then disable the wifi on the cyta box.
