Tablets not available at the General Hospital

Postby rambo » 03 Sep 2016 10:38

Having recently become pensioners we looked into registering with the General primarily because of the high overall cost of my various tablets at private pharmacies. We contacted the pharmacy at the General and were advised that none of the tablets that I required were available, not just temporarily but permanently. The tablets I'm talking about were Co-Diovan for treatment of high blood pressure and Crestor and Ezetrol for treatment of high Cholesterol levels. We haven't lived in the UK for many years but are these available on prescription in the UK?

I feel sure that there would have been an alternative tablet to treat your High cholesterol and Blood pressure.
Why not make an appointment to see the cardiologist and ask him or her what tablets she can prescribe.

I have both ailments that you mention and get prescribed tablets at the General Hospital every 3 months.

I'm guessing the clinics and hospitals would have one of the Generic combinations in Cyprus rather than the Branded name of the drug which you are more familiar with.

Thanks for your replies, particularly to Trev who has, via PM, pointed me in the right direction which I believe the lady at the General's pharmacy did not.

Do remember that for around €40 you can go to a private hospital and see a GP / Cardiologist for advice, with no obligation to go again, or even register
