Advice Needed - Diabetic Type 1

Postby Laura1983 » 15 Dec 2011 09:42

Good morning!

I am a type 1 diabetic and currently pregnant, I am trying to find an opticians where I can have my eyes checked for diabetic retinopathy, they advise you to have extra checks during pregnancy. Does anyone have any experience or know of anywhere I can get this check done?

Thanks in advance
Laura :)

Hi Laura. Whilst I have no knowledge of diabetes, I would recommend the lady eye surgeon at St Georges clinic on Butcher boy road. She is very good and found a tear (rip) at the back of my wifes eye that the opticians could not see. The charge would probably be around€40. We have never needed an appointment, but just turned up in a morning.

Regards. Trev..

Hello Laura

Elean Opticians in Paphos old town, has just purchased a machine that puts you through a series of tests for diabetes. I was told that it's the same spec as used in the hospitals. Maybe worth giving them a call, the owner is always very helpful.

Elean Ophthalmic Opticians. Address. 116 Arch. Makariou Iii Ave, Paphos, 8010. Telephone. 26932663.

Regards

Pat
