frozen shoulder

Hi Teresa
Firstly, may I compliment you on your in depth replies to health questions on here.
About 3 months ago I woke up with a very painful shoulder which was described as a frozen shoulder.Today it reappeared and have about 10% mobility in it.Is it better to try and excersise the joint or just rest with a heat pad?
I,m also suffering with a tennis elbow and wondered if there was any connection.I play darts twice a week using said arm and wondered if I may have stretched something.

Hi Tonee,

Firstly, may I thank you for your praise. I want to do my best for everyone.

You don't tell me if the two problems are in the same arm, but I assume so and will answer as such.

If the pain comes after your darts I would say that it is due to that and you need to rethink your game for a while until things improve. Ice packs (frozen peas as good as anything) applied several times a day for 5 - 10 minutes at a time is the first thing to do along with anti inflammatory tablets such as Ibuprofen (taken with food - never on an empty stomach) every 4 hours, whether you have pain or not, for a few days. They will help to reduce swelling which is a big part of the problem. Rest is also very important so give the darts a break for a while.

I have very good news too - Charles Papapetrou, osteopath and acupuncture specialist, has opened a new clinic in Paphos and is offering FREE treatment for a month. I would suggest you seeing him to see if there is a neck involvement on that side of your body too. I am sure he can do a lot to help you. Phone number 99300956 or 26950005. His clinic is only on Tuesdays and Fridays in Paphos as he also works in Limassol - so grab a bargain and a very educated assessment of your problem.

Let me know how you get on and good luck.
