Ebola Virus Risk in Cyprus (??)

Postby geoffreys » 02 Aug 2014 14:07

The RoC authorities say (local press, CM, Cyprus Daily, etc) that they are well equipped to deal with any cases arising. Tests would be carried out in Hamburg to where samples would be sent.
As for the occupied areas things are vague. The Health Officials there have refused to comment (see www.lgcnews.com and scroll).
Many African Students, large percentage from West Africa, are due to arrive over there in the next few weeks for the start of the new University year.
It is not clear what cross-"border" co-operation is in place in the event of any cases being suspected or confirmed either side, if any. Obviously in the event of any cases such co-operation would be vital.
Talking to the crossing point staff (Ay.Nik./Strovilios) on both sides, none have received any briefings or formal training in how to deal with the issue.
Geoff.
P.S. Border refers to the cease-fire demarcation line.

Point taken Jim, valid point.
Since my OP I read in the press that the RoC had contacted the occupying authorities in the north and had more or less
agreed to cooperate over this one - details to be thrashed out in due course etc.
