Transfer of tax allowances in Cyprus

Postby charly » 09 Apr 2016 11:43

I know that in the UK you can transfer some of your tax allowance to your spouse but someone said recently that they thought you could also do it in Cyprus too. Has anybody here ever done this and,if so, what do I have to do? This is the first time one of our incomes has gone over the tax limit, mainly due to the lower exchange rate, and the other one is way below.

As far as I am aware the tax allowance is €19,500 for each person, and non of it is transferable.

Charly,

I too believe the allowances here are not transferrable.

Thank you both for your replies, I thought I would check before I asked at the tax office.

I asked when I took my return in and after being transferred to 3 different offices and being met with blank looks, the third person phoned somebody else and they eventually decided that it couldn't be done in Cyprus!
