I had a fall down some stairs in a restaurant the other evening. I'm now in plaster as I have broken my wrist.how do i go about getting compensation. The stairs in question are broken.

Go see a lawyer.

Go back and take pictures of the stairs before they are repaired. Make sure you have evidence of visiting the restaurant on the date on question, eg timed and dated receipt.

You could go and speak to the manager/owner and show him your injury and see if he is willing to offer compensation. This could cut out a large legal bill.

He will just tell you to be more careful next time; not there's ever likely to be a next time!

Then fair enough... Then call a solicitor

No chance ,the only way is to speak to the owner for an out of court settlement .The court case will cost you more than you get and will take years.

Someone I know slipped on an unmarked wet floor of a supermarket and ended up with stitches for a facial injury.
They went to a solicitor and got paid out - here in Cyprus (Limassol). Eventually settled out of court.
