psychiatrist

Wonder if someone could recommend a good psychiatrist please or does anyone have knowledge of one at Paphos General.

One of my neighbours needs a medication review. She has no computer and therefore not on CL.

I realise this should perhaps be on the medical forum but it may get more viewing initially here.

Thanks

I have been told that thee are not many of this specialisation in Cyprus. Hope I'm wrong, but if true you might have to go further afield than Paphos to find one. Why not ask your own doctor?

There are two pyschiatrists at Paphos General and they are both Dr. Maria. The one I have direct experience of is Dr. Maria Pitta and she is good. They tend to see people by appointment and their department, where you can also make an appontment, is off the car park just past the main entrance to the hospital on the 2nd floor. It is signed.

I did a search on the internet for psychiatrists in the Paphos region and came up with the following information:

GALATOPOULOS CHRISTODOULOS (Psychiatrists)
Filippou Antoniadi
8047 Pafos Paphos
Tel :26932591

Charalambide Maria
Charalampous Mouskou, Chapnape Court,
8010, Pafos
(no phone number was given in the advert)

As mentioned by Rav4man at Paphos General Hospital - some more information = ''There is a Cyprus multidisciplinary team with one psychiatry doctor which was enriched by the appointment of a part-time psychiatry doctor and psychiatrist. The team is located in the new Paphos General Hospital''.

As mentioned by kili1 - If your neighbour wants to see someone privately I would suggest your neighbour sees their own doctor, or if they do not have a regular doctor just pop into one of the private clinics and they will recommend someone as usually each clinic has its own specialists. This is the route I would take.

I should have said that they were each called Maria - I just didn't know the surname of the second one. We can get rather pendantic about what one types!! !

My turn to be pedantic now. Schizophrenia has nothing to do with split personality :p

It's a bit tasteless to joke about mental health problems. If you have never experienced it yourself you don't know how horrible it can be for the person and/or the family and friends.

Hi Kristina,
I agree it is a horrible illness but there are many others that are too.
But some of those are now spoken about openly and brought into jokes as well.
The thinking now is to make mental health issues much more approachable and less of a pariah subject.
It will make it easier for all to deal with if it works, I think

There is a very good psychiatrist at St Georges hospital, Paphos. Her name is Dr Eleni Antoniou, she is fluent in English and Greek.
