Take a trip to Rumbletums Restaurant on the TOTK, and talk to Eddie; he's got a monumental knowledge of who fits what equipment, and will point you in the right direction to find you the right lights from the right place.
one simple thing though; if you're technically minded, the replacement holders and bulbs for many pool lights are at Nikolou Electronics (behind Elvicom), or if use eBay to get them even cheaper; you may find it was just a batch of faulty bulbs...

I usually buy the headlamp-like bulbs at the Pool shop in Coral Bay. The girl there is very pleasant and helpfull.

She also tests each one and told me the can get as many as 30% of the ones shipped to them, faulty.

'could be closer to the truth about the "wrong type of light" than you think...

I had one of these on a Z&X pool (Haywards fittings) a couple of years ago, and one of the mounting legs had warped, allowing water to seep past the "do-nut" O ring, blowing the bulb instantly; That was about six years old at the time too!
I had the choice of draining the pool and replacing the whole fitting, or carefully taking a slice of plastic off each leg, so it squeezed the O-ring tighter...

guess which option I went for? 'never caused a problem again!

Hi Reekiepeekiepat.
Regarding your pool under water lights, Look on Internet for www.aquapharos.net speak to Bill
mention my name Steve from Merlin i have dealt with this Company for many years ask for conversion kit and tell him the make of your light. His lights last up to 4,000 hours this is the only light we use. You can install it.
Regards Steve.

I thought they made it illegal to use pool lights post Mari disaster.
Has the ban been lifted?

It was never illegal, however it was ordered by EAC, that to preserve the supply, ALL unessential electrical equipment was switched off completely, until power was restored to adequate levels; pool lights certainly came under that description

here's the press releases...
