Android tablets

Postby Shadow 28 » 06 Apr 2012 13:36

I'm thinking about buying an Android tablet here in the UK, with the intention of using it here and in Cyprus next year. Are there any issues with using them in Cyprus eg. connectivity?
Thanks, Hilda

My husband has an Asus Transformer 101 and it works fine here - he links into the wireless router and can connect to wifi systems when out, if required. He had and Archos previously and had to send it back as it only worked for a month - it wasn't very good. We use his tablet to connect to one of our tv's with hdmi (mini hdmi to normal hdmi adapter) and watch BBC news etc via Filmon - it is only SD but is fine for the news. He also downloaded kindle app and other reading apps and has hundreds of books on it. He uses it for emails and as it has a camera, he uses it to skype me when h is in the UK using friends wifi connection or pays for connection at the motel.
Hope that help, Julie

Thanks Julie, it sounds as if you use the Asus for similar things that I would. One more thing, what's the 3G network like in Cyprus - not that I'd necessarily use it, just wondering?

We do not use 3g here at all - I am not sure how good it is in this country - perhaps others would know.

Similar to previous post, I have an Asus Transformer Prime. Use it as a laptop replacement. Good wi-fi and excellent storage options. Connects to TV with micro HDMI (make sure you buy the right lead as I bought a mini HDMI initially in error). Does not quite do everything that windows does but pretty good. Overall bery please with it and can recommend.
