Heywood - pronounced Hay Wood
Rochdale - depending where you're from is pronounced Rotch Stull

Due to work commitments I lived in Barnsley in a village called Cudworth which I used to pronounce Cud Worth pronouncing the W, I was told categorically by the locals it was Cudorth, no pronunciation on the W!!

May have said before the first time I took my hubby to be to see a brass band concert a lady came up to him during the interval holding a plate with rolls on it, and said to him - hey up cock does that want a scuffler, he looked at me and asked me to interpret!! H.e asked what was on them and she replied dripping, he said no thanks
