Multi region dvd player

Postby skerries » 11 Apr 2014 10:06

Hi We bought a Samsung DVD player from Savvas on Mesogi Rd (on right hand side going up just past Steptoes) I thought all DVD players would play any dvd these days but this did not!! So I took it back and they explained that it had to be sent to the Samsung agent in Nicosia but that could only happen on Tuesdays. We were about to leave Cyprus to come home so left with it and asked a friend to take it in for us Which he did but the person in the shop was so rude and unhelpful that he left So we have a DVD player which will not play all of our DVDs Can anyone help??
I thought I would just take it back myself on Tues of this week (we bought a new oven, TV and DVD player all from them all at one time so I would have kicked up a bit) But am told that this Tues is a public holiday and we are only over for 10 days. I am told that all it needs is the code changed Help please!!

bmwx3 is quite right. You have to buy a special remote (usually £10-£15 on Ebay), then follow a simple set of instructions, which you can get online. Most stuff, unless stated otherwise, is still sold with regional codes, to protect the film industry.

I have de-regional coded both mine, and my daughter's, DVD players, so that we can play DVD's from all over the World (we had many DVDs which were previously bought in America).

If you Google "remove regional code from Samsung DVD player" you'll find dozens of sites which will explain how to do this.

Mine, and my daughter's, took less that 5 minutes each to do. You're welcome to borrow my remote if you're happy to collect and return.

All you need is the code for the DVD player ( Utube) and put that code via your normal remote....assuming you can find the code, never had a problem myself doing this.

BMWX3 has the right idea..

seems your sorted now though.

how to hack a DVD player to play anything or any region..
