Android TV Box Problem

Postby Brenmar » 03 Aug 2014 16:16

Hi

This is not my area of expertise so I hope someone can help.

My mother has an Android box that she uses to watch UK tv programmes.

Today she has told me that when she goes to XBMC Media Centre to choose a channel to watch so now gets a completely different screen that comes up with no option to watch programmes.

My suspicion is that she has pressed something and changed a setting somewhere but I don't know where to start to try and resolve it.

Any ideas gratefully received.

If the Android box is similar to the Mag250 box (I don't know that it is, but maybe), she needs to toggle left or right until TV programmes shows up again. It's easy on the Mag250 remote to accidentally toggle left or right...and then TV programmes cannot be found, but instead things ike Movies, YouTube, etc.

Thanks for that but when she opens XBMC the screen that opens is completely different and the tv programmes option is no longer there. It's almost as if it has been replaced by something else.

Try unplugging it from mains - give it about 20 seconds and replug it in and it should start up and it should have re-set itself back to its original settings - worth a try anyway. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion Clive, but sadly no joy.

I think I may have worked out what she did though.

In the XBMC Media Centre the only options are for things stored locally.

I managed to get into the set up for Live TV and it was disabled. When I tried to enable it I got a message saying there was no client installed to view live tv.

Do you think this means that she has inadvertently uninstalled an app and, if so, what do I need to find to install to get it working again?

Update

I have tried following the instructions in this tutorial - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nNHVRBlKIY but when I get to the bit where you choopse Filmon it is not there as an option. I also keep getting messages saying that there is no PVR enabled but when I try to enable one (any of them) I get an error message.

I do now have Live TV back as an option but am stuck at the PVR bit..................

Bremnar, you don't say where you or your Mother are, nor is it evident in your profile. But if you are in the Paphos area, why not take the box to Computer SOS and ask if they can re set it.

I posted on this last week in this section, my Clearview android did this but within a few hours after a reboot all was the same again, so try taking the power out of the box, it may work for you too.

Live TV on XBMC is for using a tuner plugged into the android box and allows use of an EPG, recording etc. It is not associated with the FilmOn, ExpatTv, FTV etc. app. Unless you have a tuner into the android box, this should be left "Off".
Pressing "Home" a few times on the android remote may take you back to the XBMC Home screen.

Thanks for that, but Live TV is what she uses to watch UK tv which comes from Filmon.

I eventually sorted it by going to http://www.droidplayer.co.uk. I uninstalled XBMC then reinstalled it followed by reinstalling the add-ons (just over 750Mb). Once this was done everything was back to normal.
