No copy of the Reg's.
Had my car MOT'd yesterday, and was told about the new regulations from December this year.
When a vehicle is taken into an MOT testers premises, the tester has to take what he called "high definition" photographs of the vehicle. These photographs have to be down both sides of the vehicle and also back and front. Also, there has to be a close up of the windscreen. Apparently, this is meant to show up if a) the vehicle has been modified where the wheels are shown to be out wider than the bodywork, b) that if the owner has used the film that darkens the glass areas on the car, that the windows of the 2 front doors and the windscreen have not had this film put on, c)the windscreen does not have a crack or large stone chips on it, d) the lighting units on the vehicle are not damaged. The tester, then has to forward this on to The Ministry of Transport (presumably via the internet), and obtain authorisation to go ahead with the MOT,OTHERWISE HE CANNOT CARRY IT OUT.
Hopefully, this will remove many unroadworthy vehicles off the road, or alternatively will mean many vehicles on the road illegally through having no MOT.
