anyone know a good pre mot or mot centre paphos

To be honest, we always took our vehicles to the local ΣΕΜΟ testing stations and let them check it out first rather than doing a pre-MOT.

We found ours pretty much passed every time

We always take ours to (please PM this info Peter) ) he has two English mechanics. We have always passed the MOT test after this.

If you look around at some of the vehicles on our roads, does any vehicle fail its MOT?

Had my car MOTed today at same place as usual: roughly opposite Lidl on Polis (Mesoyi) road. Right side when driving down, 50m before pharmacy. 35 euro for the test, about 15 minutes wait max. Normally quite busy, better to make an appointment in the morning and arrange for afternoon between 3 to 6 pm check-up.

Yes we always go there as well. Strangely enough we've never booked & have obviously been lucky as we've never had much of a wait.

I too go to the one opposite lidl. The people there are very thorough, but also very fair.
They inflate the tyres to the right pressure. They adjust the headlight aim, rather than saying it is wrong and fails.
Great place but afternoons are as said, quieter.

I use the one coming down from the traffic lights on the Polis Road on the left side just before you turn right towards Lidl. He advised me the tyres will need to be changed before the next MOT because they are near their expiry date, but that the tread and overall condition is very good.

I went to the one opposite Lidl some 8 years ago, he failed my car on the emissions and said i needed a new Catalytic converter, he recommended a place around the corner for the new one to be fitted, no doubt relatives.
I asked to see the print out from the test machine, he said I couldnt see it and that it was a fail.
I took the car to Gem Autos up past Coral bay and it passed.

So it seems there isn't anyone who has a pre-check... We all just take it for the actual test instead.

I always take my car for servicing and other maintenance to Frank at the 4x4 garage (F & E) in Yeroskipou and time a service when an MOT is due. He checks it over and arranges for the MOT to be carried out, and it always passes!

I have always used the MOT station opposite Lidl (Mesoggi Rd/Polis Rd) too, even before Lidl was there ;o), good service, free coffee if they are not too busy, highly recommended them..Never had any problems, but I have often heard members saying I went here I went there and got a different story, it is like the Pope asking where you got that f*****g hair cut from, no difference with mechanics. Life has taught me this at least.

Now I always go to Gem Autos on the road to Agios Giorgios.

No point having a pre-MOT as the only opinion that matters is that of the MOT tester. Take the car for an MOT first and then just repair anything that it fails on. I have only ever had one car fail an MOT here, but that was before I changed testers!

Wow,exactly the same.When Mots first introduced,this place just opened,took car and failed on catalyctic converter(I posted this at the time here)his mate in the office said he would "fix" it for me,no thanks.Took it elsewhere,no prob,that car passed 3 more MOTs without problems before I sold it!

I have been thinking about this thread, if you go to a well recommended MOT service station and they say your motor has a fault, say with suspension units, you decided then to go to Gem's (who I had used for years when I lived in Peyia) and they pass your motor, are you really happy you could be using a motor that has a fault and maybe dangerous, myself I would rather have the fault professionally fixed so myself and family are safe as can be on Cyprus roads, personally if one MOT station says reject and another passes you car do you think this right? get it looked at by an independent mechanic.

You can ask the MOT guys to show you all of the "fails" on their test equipment display monitor.

It flags up green or red - if it's only a smidgen in the red, there are certain parts of the test that the MOT centres can override but obviously not important things like brakes, suspension, steering etc. I would guess they can use their judgement on emissions though...
