I use gem for my mot, he only failed me once, no rear seat belts, I said in 1987 they did not fit rear seat belts to this car and I don't have mounting points, he said no belts no mot. So I bought rear seat belts large bolts and very large washers, fitted them, he said good job and gave me mot. Normally though all cars seem to pass.
Simone1023 what was so bad he failed it ?
Retest for 10 euro sounds fair to me.
Ummm have you got mixed tyres on the Car? They get a bit jumpy about that.
My worst nightmare. To own a car which is "FULLY LOADED"

Jim, I am intrigued, where in that thread does it says that Gems never fails an MOT?
Around 4 or 5 years ago Gems failed my car on split drive shaft boots, he showed me the problem with the boots.
Because of this honesty I still use Gems.

Well it implied that because one MOT station of good repute fails a members car they went to Gems and it passed, I would not wish to drive that cars, I would have made the repair at an independent garage then take it back for a pass test again, just to say I lived in Peyia and used Gems, but I fail to see why one MOT satiation rejects the car you would look for one that passed it, crazy in my mind and very dangerous too .Jim

well i needed all steering shock obsorber repaired, but what was funny i need a new steering wheel as metal was showing, and apparently two bald front tyres i just bought a month ago. they are only 2 inches bald on outside of tyre sounds rediculous to me.i do not know how much retest is, fityos garage, who are carrying out repairs told me i shouldnt have been charged for failed test, and second only 10 euros if you go within two weeks
