When visiting a friend recently I was asked to look at his TV programm provided via the internet. I was a little surprised to see that when he turned on the TV, BBC1 was showing without any channel selection. He was treaming 24/7 even when away from home.
Using my best diplomatic approach I asked how he turned his decoding box off to stop the streaming. He never did. I failed to convince him that it may be best to turn his device off when not required as this would reduce the 'Strain' on the internet and allow a better reception for others, and especially those in his contention area. In mitigation I would say he is very elderly and very dependant on the TV for entertainment, so does not like to dabble.
Visiting others, I asked them if they always left their respective boxes on and several said yes they did.
I turn mine off to reduce the internet load when not viewing the TV.
So the question is. Do you, in some way, turn off the internet to the TV when not being used?
