We do not know what these updates are or how they will effect users if indeed they do affect users already using 10, I have it now on all of my PC's (three) I did have a few problems but now all seems well, I certainly prefer 10 to 8.1 never liked that charm bar flicking out from the right-hand side of the screen.

Win7 and Vista are surly history now. Soon to be announced Windows Redstone, The new OS looking forward to trying this out.

There are a few options open for those not wishing to have Window's as an OS but all have flaws of some kind, I do not fear personally OS moving forward as long as they are an improvement, I find 10 an improvement once your PC's and you settle down with using 10.

We wait to see what these updates are and if we should beware of them.

I've got two desktop computers one of which I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 - and a 'new' one I bought last year from Windows 8 to Windows 10.

Fortunately I've had no problems and the 'old' Windows 7 system is much quicker.

Cheers,

The upshot of all this is that the Cyprus local authorities; Land Registry; Taxation; UK NHS; Australian NHS; all still use XP and pay enormous yearly amounts to Microsoft to ensure security measures are updated. Money, they say, well spent given the cost of updating to W10 and retraining all the staff.
Personally, tried the new baby and my computer slowed down, the electric kettle was faster. Then again, it is old like it's owner. Went back to W7 and we are both happy again.

As slowly many company are stopping support to Windows XP and I was getting poor reports about 8 and then 10. I installed Linux on my pc retaining XP on dual boot. However, I find that I rarely go into Windows any more as Linux (Unbuntu to be precise) does anything I want..

You haven't upgraded, you've changed!

To make it look more like traditional Windows 95/98/XP/Vista/7 start menu, you can install Classic Shell to do this

I tried this Shell extension on one PC, but Win10 already has a similar start and file opener as XP/7/Vista/8.1 so it was unnecessary to download Shell, for me anyway, I guess you need to have Win 10 to know this, again I find nothing wrong with 10, you have to get used to it's features as you would expect, it seems faster to me and I do use it on three Desktop PC's, remember folks had the same moans when Win7 came along and certainly with Vista, in the end we will need to go to new OS's best to bite the bullet and just get used to it. So far and apart from a couple of missing drivers Win10 is OK by me.

I asked my grandson ( a bit of an IT wiz kid) if I should change from windows 7 to windows 10, his answer was NO.

Dee, great respect to your young family member but all my Cypriot Grand kids updated to 10 last year and they like me are experiencing no problems, if they can do it you should be able to as well, there are no bogies with Win 10 Dee and in the end you will have to move forward, remember Win95? we have moved on.

Hi Bigfathen.
Of course you can bring your folder contents across. At the top of the email screen on W10 there is a circle of two arrows. That is the sync button. Go to each folder and press the sync button.

I would not have expected it to be able to Sync Gmail.. As far as I am aware, Gmail is not on your computer but on an outside server.

I am far from happy with Windows 10. It is installed on three machines and they all work differently in mainly small but infuriating ways. Not at all what I expected.
There is always the option of using Internet Explorer 11 for your emails which is on your W10 machine. If you can not see it then use find or run. Type IE 11 in and it will tell you where it is. Right click it and add to taskbar or to desktop and you are back to using it the same as W7 etc. On one of my machine I can not get contacts up in W10 and try adding contacts from an email. W10 works but is a very poor beastie.

I have it installed as posted above on three machines, all work the same as they should, we had the same arguments when Win7 and Vista came on the on line, we got used to them did we not? the same goes for 10, no bogies in the machine!! as far as I can see, a matter of just getting used to it!! but it is your choice of course. For sure I now prefer it to Win 8.1, I hated that pop out from the right charm bar, for me a it was a real pain.
