ipt halved and local abolished?

Nigel
Can you provide anymore info re this.
http://www.sigmalive.com/en/news/econom ... -tax-by-50
It says it will be halved but I cannot see if it mentions whether the minimum value exemption still stands and will it be based on new valuations?
Also it mentioned that local IPT will be abolished.
I assume this is what we pay when we take our title deeds to municipality.
Does that mean we dont have to do that anymore?

Hi Fiona

I published an article yesterday from the Cyprus News Agency - http://www.news.cyprus-property-buyers. ... d=00148963.

As Immovable Property Tax up to €25 will not be collected, I assume that owners of properties whose total 2013 valuation is less € 50,000 will not have to pay.

I don't know why you take your Title Deeds to the Municipality (the Municipalities and Communities receive information on taxable values - I don't have to take my deeds to my Community office.)

You do in Peyia! There is a notice on the window saying its owners responsibility to bring their deeds in and pay this tax. No bills are sent. A lot of people dont even know they have to pay!

Last year a notice was sent with one of the water bills. So people should have known. I received a bill and could pay on line with JCC.

They sound hopeless. Why not ask what they do with the data they get from the LR when you next visit?
