Cypriot Tax on income

Postby andy64j » 09 Sep 2016 15:48

Hi I own an apartment in Paphos, which I am due to rent out as a short term holiday let. The property will be advertised in the UK and around Europe. How do I ensure the income I receive is liable to the more favourable Cypriot tax laws rather than the expensive UK tax laws?

Thank you in advance

Surely this depends on where you are registered to pay tax.

Assuming you're resident in the UK for tax purposes, you'll have to tax on any rental income you receive in the UK - see https://www.gov.uk/tax-foreign-income/paying-tax

Note that some of the local authorities in Cyprus also tax you on rental income. You'll need to check whether this is the case with the local authority in which the apartment is situated.

The only way to avoid paying UK tax is to become a tax resident in Cyprus.
