The satellite dish is there in the picture, but small compared to the rest. You obviously haven't clicked on the link at the bottom of all my posts and seen all the pictures :)

It all looks great Trev, and the garden is surprisingly mature.

I have no intention of posting what my spendings have been on here Geoff. With regards to being a teacher, I didn't know that either. Why do I get the feeling I have made a mistake somewhere :)

OMG

What a difference a year makes. Trev & Hillary have turned their garden into a paradise of plants :ymapplause: :ymapplause: :ymapplause:

PS that Elastomeric paint you recommended is still working for me

I wonder how much it cost to get a garden like that.

Just a passion & a lot of love & labour. What was your question Geoff?

Yes it is all DIY, no hired labour. I have spent an hour watering today. Two days ago we had to transplant a 6 ft tree, because the electricity board were putting post and straining wire at the front of our bungalow.

Geoff if you are trying to bait me, forget it. This has been a long & interesting story about a couple who had a vision of their life in Cyprus

They have achieved this with some perfection I may add by building their own home. What it cost, what's it worth seems a very immature question

For me I will just enjoy their progress

It is indeed working fine Norv. I hope it will be a few years before it needs doing again.
Glad you are pleased with it

hi trev I have just spent an hour reading and looking at all the pictures of your house build and WELL DONE TO YOU AND YOUR WIFE. It does seem to have been a labour of love and determination.
My wife and I are looking to relocate to Cyprus in the near future (sick of being cold and wet ) all the time here in northern Ireland sometimes I wished I had stayed back home in sunny Scotland hahaha.

hope you get many many years of enjoyment from your house and lovely garden

a few questions
1: would you do it all again ???
2: as a couple thinking of moving to Cyprus is it what you expected ??
3: we are not at the stage of retiring yet so have to make a living has the economy/work situation getting better ??

you don't need to answer but I would appreciate your answers and if anyone else could chip in and give me their honest opinion as I am getting conflicting stories about Cyprus and the economy, jobs, cost of living in Cyprus at the moment some say yes its fine and some are saying don't come its terrible

once again thank you trev for a very pleasant hour reading your story

Good morning jmcvey533.
Thank you for your kind remarks, and I can answer your questions.

1. Yes we would do it again... BUT, if we could rent a place like this and with the same quality of build, then we would probably do that. There are many reasons why and it would be too long to go into them here.
Suffice to say we could NOT rent what we wanted and that is why we had one built to our specification.
We learnt a lot along the way...

2. Yes it is mainly what we expected, as we had been many times before and stayed with friends as well as being in Holiday accommodation here. But again the buying of property was not what we expected, it is not the same as the UK no matter what you may read.

3. The work situation here is not good and I cannot see it improving in the near future. Many, many people are out of work. No work no money, there are not the same benefits to fall back on here as in the UK.

If you want to PM me or email me,
I have no problems with that.
Or maybe ask more general enquiries, in the General section where more people will see them.

Good Luck. Trev..

It is growing very well thank-you Norv. The trouble is in this weather you have to water it well once a day at least .

I struggle now putting pictures on Norv as I only have them in my computer, not on an outside server.
Jim gave me tips a week or two back but that was not for ones stored on your own computer

hi trev we were out in paphos for 3 week in November and found a rental property in TALA and are moving out in January my wife also jot a job with her first cv she sent out so all good looking forward to it. We took a drive about the whole of western Cyprus and it is stunning most people just stay around paphos but Cyprus does seem to have a lot more to offer and we are excited about the move. Maybe one day we will build a wee house like yours in the future are retire but not at that stage yet. hope you have a lovely Christmas and new year

Jim, many thanks for good wishes, and it is great to hear that you are moving here. It is Winter here now but you really would not know it in the daytime. Plenty of sunshine and still short sleeve weather.

Good luck to you for the future.

It has of course provided me with a photographic history of the building of the bungalow.
I still refer to some of the pictures to find cables and pipes and timber work behind the plasterboards
