RAFT RACE Saturday 17 September @ Bonamare Beach, TODAY

Postby kerri » 18 Jul 2016 12:31

Yes it's nearly that time again!! The annual Raft Race held in aid of PAWS Dog Shelter is scheduled for Saturday 17 September. That gives you almost 2 months to design and build your own raft. Each year the event becomes busier as more rafts are entered and more people come to spectate. The setting at Bonamare Beach (just off the Paphos airport road) is beautiful and the atmosphere is fantastic. On the day, all competitors must be there for registration at 10.00 and the first race will start at 10.30 a.m.

Full rules & sponsorship forms are available from PAWS Shelter, Acheleia, PAWS Charity Shop, Chlorakas or PAWS stall at the Duck Pond Market on Sundays or phone Lindsay on 99162118 or Matt on 96712689. Registration fee is €20 per raft plus each team must pledge to raise a minimum of €50 for PAWS through sponsorship. Teams must consist of of between 2 and 4 persons, 2 of whom must be aged 18 or over. When buiding your raft, please remember that you will have to transport & carry it! No engine parts allowed.

For those who are less adventurous, just come down and watch the fun!

A BBQ will be available at 13.30, costing €7 per person. Pre-booking and payment by 10 September please.

Thanks and well done to everyone who took part, came to spectate, raised sponsorship money and also to the volunteers who helped on the day! It was a most enjoyable day. The raft race was very successful has raised well over €3,500. (Some sponsorship money still to come before we have a final total.)
