Money Trail

Postby ruthnmick » 22 Jul 2016 15:00

On the 25th September, we are organising a money trail.
The Money Trail is a fundraising initiative to raise money for the Archangel Michael Hospice at the harbour area of Paphos, from 8am in the morning and we will go on until midnight if necessary.
It involves people laying down a trail of €2 coins for a far as we can go. If we can get 100 metres we will have raised €8000.
We hope that people who are out for a stroll, or on a visit to the area will empty their pockets of €2 and place them on the red ribbon trail that will start at the harbour and travel along the pathway towards the main shops and restaurants.
There will be a few ‘spot prizes’ along the red ribbon for lucky winners to get, all prizes are donated by local business, it could be anything from an ice cream to a meal for two.
Paphos Post have kindly agreed to be our media sponsors for the event, Fitzgerald Estate Agency & Top Quotes Insurance have also agreed to sponsor the event by donating a sum money to help with printing and publicity. If you would like more information, please pm me.

What a Brilliant idea, as long as precautions are there to stop the coins being removed .

Yes of course, the coins are being placed on a red ribbon with double sided sellotape to help hold them, we will also have lots of volunteers ‘marshalling’ along the trail.

Stage One and Island Blend are helping as well as other volunteers.

We hope you will come along and add to it?

I am glad that you have those precautions in place ruthnmick. Sadly present circumstances prevent me from being there, but I really wish you well.

From someone who has used Archangel Michael Hospice.

Sorry you have had to use the Hospice but now you know all the good work this facility does, please could you pass on details of the event to all your friends, and help us in that way. We appreciate any help anyone can give us.

This is similar to the Coin Race I organised (with many helpers) for The Friends' Hospice in 2012 (I think). We had 2 lines, one for men & one for women and the public could put down any coin they liked. We invited the Mayor Savva Savvas & his wife to start the race. I waited for him to put down a €2 coin, but then he looked at me and asked me for a coin and the same with his wife!! (I hope he's enjoying his time in Jail). We raised €6,000 and it was a draw between the gents and ladies. Yes, we did have a couple of thieves, so vigilance is definitely required.
Fight for what is right!

Hi RuthnMick,

Great idea to raise funds for the hospice, sadly we fly back to the UK before the event, but we'd very much like too donate

Thank you, if you are in Peyia before the Money Trail date, please put money in an envelope, please mark it with Money trail FAO of Ruth and if you could leave it in one of the Aphrodite Bra collection points in Peyia.

Spa Tonic

If none of these are convenient, please have a look at the full list either on this forum, or on the Facebook page Aphrodite’s Bra Chain.

Many thanks for your support

Good luck with all your ventures, I hope they all turn out to be very successful :)

Well this event will be held this coming Sunday 25th September. We already have had groups collecting €2 coins from their members and donations from people who cannot make the day, so if you can come along and add €2 to our Money Trail. All the money on the trail is going to Archangel Michael Hospice and will be used to fund a nurse. :P
Spot prizes are available along the trail, so you may win a lovely prize as well!
We will be at the harbour from 8am.

Brilliant news - we went down to the harbour in the morning and were impressed with how the money trail was progressing between walking to the castle and back and duly emptied our pockets!
