Heating Engineer - URGENT

Postby Brenmar » 24 Dec 2016 17:17

Can anyone please give me the name of a heating engineer that I might be able to get out today!

Having followed an earlier thread about heater servicing I bought a Daily Deals voucher to have our oil fired boiler serviced.

Since then it has failed to work properly, resulting in the guy coming back twice plus some DIY instruction on a phone call.

Just now the heating has completely failed and the boiler won't fire up.

We live up in the hills with my 80 year old mother-in-law, so need the heating. The engineer just has a voicemail message saying that they are closed until January.

Any help would be very gratefully received.

Thanks very much for the reply and the suggestion.

I have managed to get in touch with a guy called Panicos who has been out and had a look, but it seems that we are going to be in a chilly house for the next few days.

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Thanks anyway.

Oh no - I'm sorry you couldn't get it fixed in time and also that I couldn't offer to lend you a heater but we gave them away when we had the log burner fitted! I'm sure Home Centre and SuperHome will reopen again on Tuesday and they definitely sell gas heaters if you need to get one!

Merry Christmas

Thanks so much you the kind offers and comments.

We've sorted out some heaters and have found that we can get a surprising amount of heat from our living room air conditioner.

The burner unit is going to be sorted Tuesday morning, so we should be all good after that.

Thanks again and Merry Christmas! :ymhug:

So, I took the burner unit to the place opposite Travel Express this morning and have just picked it up and reconnected everything.

With baited breath we turned the power on and turned up the thermostat and whoosh - heating back working again as normal and house getting lovely and warm.

And the cost for this same day service? €10!!!!!

I know who I will be using in future.

My issue was the burner unit, not the boiler. The burner is a lot newer than the boiler but I cannot readily see a manufacturer's name on it.

The place I took it to is the shop on the corner opposite Travel Express in Paphos (from the motorway roundabout go towards Debenhams and turn right at the lights after McDonalds and the old Mall, then go straight across the roundabout and it is on your right just after the bottom of the hill).

I can never remember the name of the shop but it is the one with the water tanks outside. The man you need to speak to is George. I believe he can look at any burner, but you will need to disconnect it and take it to him, he doesn't come to you as he runs the plumbing shop.

If you would like the details of the guy who came out on Christmas Eve please send me a PM and I will let you know.

Brenmar yes the plumbers shop of which you speak is Panthermiki, run by George, have been using him since 2002 . George is an ex heating engineer not just a shop keeper and has great knowledge, yes he did repair your burner and yes will work fine now, if you want to see George he is there until midday as he on call out helping plumbers in the afternoon .

We have also been using George for 13+ years.

He's an absolute gentleman, honest and reliable - would never go anywhere else.
