Notice of assessment tax/contribution

Postby Petit Mousse » 13 Nov 2016 09:32

This week I received the notices for 2010 and 2011 and need to see someone at the Paphos tax office for clarification. Can anyone tell me who I should ask to see? A few years ago Mrs. Anastasia, on the second floor, dealt with queries of a general nature and was replaced by a colleague on the ground floor. I saw her replacement a couple of years ago but unfortunately I didn't find her to be very competent.

You need to get a taxi to the office and demand your refund... Tell them to hurry up as the taxi is waiting outside

There is a really helpful lady on the second floor who has the authority to rectify mistakes by the assessors. She will look up the return and get you to fill in a simple form. If there is a mistake she can fix it instantly. :-bd

Does anyone know what rate should be used £ to € for this year's (2016) personal income tax return?
Thanks,

Hello Rigsby. The lady you refer to is probably Mrs. Anastasia who retired at least 2 years ago but maybe you know of someone else and, if so, what is her name?

first door on left out of the lift. name is Doreena. the other lady is first corridor on the right if you come through main doors. i found her quite helpful, but her Engish is basic, so might give the impression she is not helpful.

Thanks,

I asked that question at the tax office. I was told to ask my bank!!!!
My temporary assesment was handed in based on the average exchange rate given by my bank. I was told the assesment would be dealt with in about two weeks. As I have yet to receive 2010/2011/2012/2013/2014 or 2015 I admire their optimism.

No this was only about 6 weeks ago. A much younger lady than Mrs Anastasia and her English was very good. I am sorry but I cannot remember her name. The reception desk will give you the name and office number.

I went to the tax office yesterday and found Doreena mentioned above. She is on the ground floor, 3rd office on the left of the corridor leading from the reception desk to the cashiers' desks. She speaks good English, was helpful and told me to ask at reception for the name of the tax assessor for that day. The assessor was Mrs. Kostantina, room 123. She checked my file and said that the tax codes I was using are wrong, hence the demand for more tax to be paid. The codes I have always used were given to me by the tax office (Mrs. Anastasia) in 2009. I hope this new information, as follows is correct: UK State Pension - code 2; Private pension (from France) - code 2. Can someone on the forum please confirm the correct tax codes? I am sure other tax payers must be also declaring the wrong codes.

Surely the tax rate on UK government pension is no different to that of a private pension, it's just "income" declared, isn't it?
