Hairdresser - wedding

Postby snoozysuzb » 17 Nov 2016 16:49

We are coming over to Cyprus in May next year and will be getting married.
We are doing everything ourselves, and obviously I need to prioritise my hair and make-up
Can anyone recommend someone who would come to our hotel on the day of the wedding to do hair and make-up? Thanks

I think that you may well find that hotels have their own hairdressers and salon owners won't go to hotels on someonelse's territory.

You are free to use whoever you choose to come to your room, although the hotel hairdresser may be more convenient - where are you staying? Dina who has the hair salon at the St George Hotel and Sue at the Alexander the Great plus the girls at the Crown Resorts in Coral Bay are all excellent hairdressers.

I would also recommend Sue Fletcher at Alexander the Great Hotel. She is extremely professional and takes time to ensure that clients leave her salon feeling very happy.

I would recommend Fanos at Cyprus Bridal Makeover, I am a wedding coordinator and been using him for 15 years, the best in the business.

I agree, you are free to ask whoever you wish to come to your room, but what I am saying is that Salon owners WON'T trespass on other hairdressers' encachment area. Why would they want to leave a Salon full of their regular customers, there are 12 months in a year don't forget, for a "one-off" appointment? Would you?

I have emailed them directly - had a delivery report and a read receipt and no reply, have emailed them through the website too. Have stayed there a couple of times and always had good service, so I don't really want to cancel, but they are not giving me a lot of confidence at the minute :((

Actually Pickles - your friend Dina, does she work for St Georges Hotel or does she work for herself because if she works for herself I wouldn't need to go through the hotel to book her?

VERY URGENT

Snoozysuzb

The Manager of St Georges Hotel (Marios) is my next door neighour. If you would care to send me your email address (by PM if you wish) I will have a word with him for you. He is not home at present (no doubt working) otherwise I would go round.

Rita

PS I have also set you a PM

Thank you for the information but I dont see the email address beneath the posts on my computer and when I press the "email button at the side" of the posts all I get is google referring to Apps. It does appear however that Pickles is providing information the lady wishes so my input would appear to be unnecessary. i tried to assist.

Rita, answering your technical query, underneath the OP's post (as indeed yours) you should see three rectangular icons: "profile" "pm" and "email". I just clicked on the OP's email icon and her email address came straight up. I wonder if you're looking in the wrong place...as I don't have any email buttons to the side?

Just one little bit of advice if you are booking photography, hair, nails etc yourself independently from the Hotel just be careful that the reps in the Hotel don't grab you once you are over promising you better deals!! I had a friend who was an excellent wedding photographer here - not the cheapest but he was one of the best and certainly gave great value for money. Various people booked via his web site and provided a small deposit. When the customers got over here the reps told them they were paying too much, they could get them a much better deal and they went with them. They received a 3rd rate photographer with 3rd rate photography and nowhere near as many photos as my friend would have given them. I also have a professional hairstylist friend who again has been let down by various potential customers as they too have been nobbled by the reps .
I have to say that I have no knowledge of the Reps who work at the St George but it is a well known ploy by many reps to make some extra money!

This is your SPECIAL day why would you want it ruined by some fly-by=night casual hairdresser. Go to a Salon and get your hair done proper like, you won't regret it.

Alan, whose asking her to get her hair done by some casual 'fly-by night’ hairdresser? (TBH there are some hotel hairdressers, i wouldn’t trust!) The one I have mentioned is a Bridal Specialist, I worked with him for over 15 years and never had a single bad comment from any bride or member of bridal party. He was brought up in Uk so no language barrier and I personally would use him for my wedding if I ever need to marry again. To the original poster please at least look at his company, you will not be disappointed in your hair (or make-up) on the day.He comes to your room on the actual day, so you do not even need to wander down corridors and risk being seen by any members of your wedding party.

My e mails buttons are to the side too Rita underneath the authors name although some only have a pm button and Lloyd has an e mail, pm and web site button as he is in business. I have to say though that If I click o the e mail button it sends me straight to their e mail. I believe that you use Computer SOS so maybe have a word with Brian?

Lloyd and Shelagh

Thank you both for your assistance. Yes Lloyd my icons are exactly where Shelagh describes immediately under my details to the right as are everyone elses but as I say when I press the email buttons I get a reference to Google and then Apps so I dont know what has happened - they were always o.k in the past. As Shelagh suggests I will have a word with Brian (Computer SOS) as they did some work on it a short time ago - I am their favourite customer when it comes to technical problems

I was just trying to assist the lady and I did see the General Manager of St Georges (Marios) last evening and mentioned her problem when he suggested he would gladly assist if and when I heard from her. However I have heard nothing further since my last post and PM to the lady but if she is sorting matters out through Pickles (who in my experience often gives good recommendations) so well and good I will bow out. I just hope she does not cancel her stay because, as we in Cyprus all know, answering emails is often difficult for unknown reasons.

If you go to your User Control Panel and go into overview
then board preferences you can change your Board Style.

prosoilver has the details to the RHS

subsilver2 has the details to the LHS

Until I log in, no PM or email details are shown. But once I log in, each poster's details are shown underneath their posts, albeit on the LHS. I'm talking here about the rectangular profile, PM and email icons underneath each post.

Memory Man

Thank you so much for your assistance. I followed your instructions and changed my "board preference" which did indeed result in the icons moving underneath the posters post to the left of the screen. However when I clicked on the email icon I .had the Google search mechanism come up so I think it is Computer SOS for me now.

Lloyd

As you can see from my reply above to Memory Man my original "board setting" had my symbols to the right of the screen but when I changed that setting I got them at the bottom to the left of the screen but the result was the same when I pressed the email button. I can get your web site without problem but not your email address or anyone elses who have given permission so definitely a trip to Computer SOS. This all seems to have occurred since my forced change over to Windows 10 - I resisted that change until the Company closed us Luddites out of the original system thereby obliging us to adopt Windows 10.

I am automatically logged in to the site but I realise your point on this. Thank you so much for taking the trouble to try to help a technology dimwit - I need your grandchildren to show me the ropes - as I said to the gentleman from whom I purchased my first computer "where is the three year old who is going to show me how to use it" - many a true word.

Agree Rita that Computer SOS are best placed to sort your computer out. You made me laugh about 3 year olds. When my grandson was 2-3 years old I meant to have taken a video of him deftly manoeuvering his way around his Mum's iPad. Now, at six years old he and his sister are dab hands with their tablets, You Tube and Google searches - though their Mum strictly limits their time online. And as for using the TV, Mag Box, Movies on demand and Catch-Up, they run circles around their grandmother!!

But it's great, because like it or not, the future is in technology and kids these days need to master the computer. Anyway, hope you're soon fixed :-bd

I've just checked and I also get the same as you when I click on e-mail.

I have only recently changed to Windows 10.

I wonder if it's connected. :-\

Back to the email problem. I believe there may be one but it's not something I use. If I click on the icon it takes me to "User account Control"

Perhaps Baz may take a look

Nothing wrong Norv there is no email problem, as far as I can see, emails are provided IF the members wish them to be shown, and indeed if they are ones that they use, often not the case, they feel it is an affront to there on line security, CL insists that we have an active email, but often they change them after initial joining so they never look! nothing we can do about that..

MM I only use Win 10, works on all of my PC's, you do need to be logged in of course.

A good idea if you did not know is clean out your cookies at least once a week. Ccleaner is a free download and is easy to use.

https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner

This will do nothing for your Perm though. :)

Hope this helps.

Jim

Sorry but I cannot use the email facility despite in the past being able to do so. I have not changed my email address at all since I joined CL and yes I did give permission for it to be utilised on CL - I have sent you emails from time to time. It was I who raised the query in the first place and both Memory Man and Lloyd attempted to assist with what might be the problem - unfortunately to no avail. It was at this juncture that Jagwheels or Memory Man found they were having the same problem and now it seems so is Vicky (Pickles). When I press the email button all I get is a new tab showing Google search and yes I am logged in. Google search will not allow me to go further nor does it indicate just what I am supposed to do. There is a Gremlin in my computer and laptop. Like Vicky I sent the lady a PM but she has not picked it up as yet and that is why I went the email route to no avail

Rita I have sent you an email directly from your last posing, if the emails are troublesome they work fine for me, if they work for one from the site they will work for all, so it is probably a setting, as I posted to you.

If the lady has not opened her PM then she has not seen it and it will stay in your outbox until she does, log back in and look for the PM, I will send you a PM now! so please reply via the same.

Also I have just emailed the member (Suzy) with no problems, it has to be settings on your equipment..

good luck.
