Prescription charges

Postby Rigsby » 02 Aug 2013 08:54

I see the previous thread is locked. As it contained ms-information regarding charges for prescription items at the hospital. The correct information can be found on today's Cyprus Mail at http://cyprus-mail.com/2013/08/02/new-h ... ents-away/
The charge per item is €0.50 not €2 Capped at €10. The same applies per line on blood tests.

Just to put you and other members in the picture, the original thread has been moved to our own FAQ page, because it will stay active and not as this will drop off the page in a few days, regards Admin

I went to the hospital yesterday and the charges are correct.
I paid €6 for the consultant, 50 cents for one box of medication, € 11 euros for blood test (50 cents each).
You need to buy stickers for the medication and blood tests before you go to the pharmacy and the blood test place.
You buy them at a counter next to the registration, to the right. You are supposed to put the stickers on the back of the white sheet in the prescription book and on the back of the blood tests sheets (make sure that you put the right amount on each sheet).
Unfortunately there are no bins handy at the counter, next to the blood room or at the chemist and the back of the stickers are now thrown all over the floor in the hospital.

I just saw that too, sorry. But one thing I just want to point out is that you dont have to buy stickers in before hand, just go and buy them after you got the prescription or the blood test paper.

Apparently you can also buy the stickers (referred to as "stamps") in advance at the Post Office too, although it's reported at the moment that not every PO has them just yet...

Not right, if you don't have stickers you will be sent to get them before your test or prescriptions.
Trust me it happened to me today.

Jigsaw I think you're confused. Kristina meant that you can get your blood test sheet from the doctor or your prescription from the doctor before you go to get the stickers. Some were saying earlier 'how do you know what prescription or blood tests you will get' - this has confused the issue as you will already have your prescription and your blood test sheet before you get the stickers (and before you go for your blood test or get your prescription) so will know exactly the amount you will need to buy.

Jeanne.

Not confused at all, the charges are what they are, Blood test 50c per tick, prescriptions 50c per item. Payable by stickers.
To see a doctor 3e, a specialist 6e payable in cash at registration.

I know what the charges are and that they have to be paid - Kristina simply pointed out that you don't need to get stickers BEFORE you see the doctor. After you have seen the doctor and have your blood sheet and prescription you will know how much value of stickers to get before you go to the next stage.

If you bother to read the posts properly of course - you would finally understand your confusion.

Does any one know for a fact where you get the stamps from when you go to see a village doctor. Are they / or do they have a supply of the stamps or the pharmacist that is in the same building.???

May I ask that this 50cents a prescription is for the item prescribed not the amount of boxes they give you? For example, last time we went to the Doctor for a repeat prescription my Husband was prescribed Lipitor 40 mg but was given 2 boxes of a different statin that were 20mg. So 1 prescription but 2 boxes so that he had to take 2 instead of 1.( if that makes sense?).So will he pay 50 cents or a euro? I can see this new plan having flaws and we haven't been there yet.

to buy statins at the pharmacy outside the hospital is alot more than 50 cents. kev was given 10mg boxes instead of 20mg boxes.

Apologies, you are quite right, you pay in cash for the doctors services and then you know the value of the stickers you will need.
