Emails from the remain camp

Postby Firefly » 19 Jul 2016 13:45

I have said that I would mention the next unsolicited email from the remain camp. One today, "Will Straw - Stronger in, shape the debate" for those who don't get these, you're lucky I'm sick of them.

Just Unsubscribe from them - there should be a link at the bottom of the email to do just that. If there isn't then they're sending them to you illegally and can be reported.

Never heard of Will Straw, but looked him up. He is the son of Jack Straw. Stood as a candidate in the 2015 general election in Rossendale and Darwin, but wasn't elected.

Hello Both

Yes I could do, but that would mean opening them, they would then know that my email address is correct, and that I have received them.

It doesn't matter - legally, they have to Unsubscribe you if you request it....

If there is no Unsubscribe option/link - they are not acting in accordance with marketing laws.

If you never signed up to receive emails, that is illegal too.
But, if you signed a petition or other form where you had to click a link there's likely to be something in the T&Cs which says they add you to their mailing list. However, you can still opt out by unsubscribing.

Check the details in this site for more info on how to deal with it if they won't unsubscribe you.:

I'm in fisticuffs with O2 network for the same thing at the moment.... Unsubscribed 4 weeks ago and still receiving emails, plus they sent me a 2nd SIM card after I told them I wasn't going to sign up with them. The only contact they offer is Live Chat, which they want a mobile phone number for! I've told them through twitter messaging (ongoing for the last few days) that if they fail to act on my requests, they will be reported.

I'm getting there now - they're all over me like a rash as I've told them, they sort it by tonight or they're being reported for non-compliance and sent them the link which indicates just how much of a fine they are facing :D

They still want my mobile number but they're not getting it. I have no reason to speak with them...

I've now told them I'm not responding to any further emails and the only email I expect to receive from them will be their final one which confirms my being unsubscribed. If I don't get it - then I'm sending my report in tomorrow.
