Oops but perhaps not so not far off the truth at the time

1966, At a press conference held at The Astor Towers Hotel in Chicago, John Lennon apologised for his remarks that The Beatles were ‘more popular than Jesus'. Lennon told reporters "Look, I wasn’t saying The Beatles are better than God or Jesus, I said ‘Beatles’ because it’s easy for me to talk about The Beatles. I could have said ‘TV’ or ‘Cinema’, ‘Motorcars’ or anything popular and would have got away with it’’.

It's etched on our memories.....

We had just returned to Limassol port that day from a mini-cruise to Beirut and arrived back around lunchtime. It was all over the news at the time as it was only just coming to light that the plane had gone down.

We realised later that day and the next that the neighbours' behind us weren't around but their dog was howling. We were very worried as we knew from the previous summer they always go away for the weekend at this time of year (the main August holidays tend to all centre around the public holiday) and were toying with asking our landlord next door if he knew anything.

As it happened, their eldest son came back to look after and feed the dog so we gathered all was okay but it was huge relief when we saw the family all arrive home in their double cab, complete with a stainless steel kitchen sink/drainer from a camping trip up Troodos!

We managed to get through of our concerns and we've been friends ever since.....
Many people we spoke to after that all knew someone or a family that had been affected by it. Although it's a fairly large island, it's very small in the big scheme of things where relatives and family are so closely linked.

Best way to play this game is not to splat any straight away. Leave them to fly for at least 2 minutes and they will grow to almost the size of your bat.
When ready position the bat in the center and they will fly to it and whilst sipping a cold one splatter them without making too much effort.
So much more enjoyable.

1967, The Beatles held a press conference at University College in Bangor, North Wales with Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The Beatles announced that they had become disciples of the guru and that they renounced the use of drugs. The four had become members of the Maharishi's 'Spiritual Regeneration Movement'which obligated them to donate one week's earnings each month to the organization

Why didn't think of that? Sounds a much better way of making money rather than working

Despite censorship the song still reached No.5

The BBC announced the removal of Bill Haley and His Comets' ‘Rockin' Through The Rye’ from its playlist because they felt the song went against traditional British standards, (and included the lyrics "All the lassies rock with me when rockin' through the rye"). The record, based on an 18th century Scottish Folk tune, was at No.5 on the UK charts

Here's me believing Hillary was first but if this information is correct Dougal was born in Edinburgh. Perhaps MM would like to confirm but if proved correct, at least Doug an Englishman was by his side
