Hi Angi
Best to try some simple tests first if you only have one Skimmer you will find inside at bottom
most skimmers have a thread were you can put a threaded bung or the rubber type, turn pump off put either bung in, if you use the threaded one put some p t f tape on thread only do hand tight. Fill pool up to correct level and check 24 hours after. The other way check liner at the water level were it stops for any splits. Also check you are not loosing water out back wash pipe. Good advice from Steve. Most likely one but not both skimmers. Ground movement here splits skimmers. Another indication is air entering the pump filter basket. If air is getting in, water will get out. A good builder will dig out the skimmer for you and make good after the replacement. This will be a lot cheaper than asking a pool company to do it. Only if you are unlucky will new pipes be needed.
