High Blood Pressure

Postby TeresaE » 15 Feb 2010 13:40

Having received a number of questions and concerns relating to high blood pressure, medications taken for it and natural therapies to reduce it, I thought I would post a very interesting link for you all to read.

It explains the different types of medication taken for hypertension (high blood pressure) and what they do. There is also some very interesting information regarding natural alternatives to prescription medication if some of you want to try them.

I WILL STRESS - DO NOTjust stop taking prescribed medication and change to natural therapies. That can be dangerous. Consult with your doctor and hopefully they will encourage you and monitor you, reducing your dosage if your blood pressure reduces.

Some people have hypertension due to a lifestyle problem (wrong diet, not enough exercise, obesity, stress), others have a genetic predisposition that they are lumbered with unfortunately. Obviously a healthier lifestyle will help to keep your blood pressure as low as possible, but if your genetic makeup causes it to be high, and/or you have a family history of heart attack, stroke or heart failure, you may HAVE to take medication to prevent problems for you.

If any of you want to know more about a healthier lifestyle and want guidance and help with it please pm me and I will try to help. If there are enough of you we could even get together as a group to work through it together if you are serious about it. Possibilities are endless as they say.

Hope this helps a little - best wishes - Teresa
